🏆👉 France win the FIFA World Cup Semifinal defeating Morocco on Wednesday 14 December 2022 at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Qatar. France reached the second consecutive final, after that of 2018, cradling more and more the dream of being able to win the World Cup for two editions in a row, a feat achieved in history only in Brazil and Italy. Morocco with a standing ovation is the real surprise of this tournament. They are the first African team in the history of the World Cup to reach a semi-final.

  •  Italian Serie A players in this game.

🇫🇷 France:  Theo Hernández (Milan) goal in the 5th minute, played all game

France closer to reach the Final. In the 79th minute, Randal Kolo Muani scored from very close range with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. A memorable goal for Randas scoring his first-ever international goal for France.

✅   Stats before the game. France have never lost against Morocco in their five previous matches, all friendlies (W3, D2): the last one, in November 2007, in Saint-Denis, ended 2-2. France have alternated between winning and losing in their six World Cup matches against African nations, losing 1-0 to Tunisia in the final round of this season’s group stage. No team has ever lost against two different African teams in the same World Cup so far. Morocco could become the first African nation to reach the World Cup final; moreover, the one against France will be the first ever semi-final played by an African team at a World Cup. France play their seventh World Cup semi-final; after being eliminated in the first three (1958, 1982, 1986), the transalpines have won all of their last three games in this stage (1998, 2006, 2018). No opposing player has yet found the goal against Morocco in this World Cup, and the only goal conceded came from an own goal against Canada. The Lions of the Atlas have collected four ‘clean sheets’ in this tournament: the last two teams to have kept five clean sheets in a single edition, went on to win the World Cup (Spain in 2010 and Italy in 2006).

🏆👉 Lineup FRANCE (4-2-3-1): Lloris; Koundé, Varane, Konaté, T. Hernandez; Fofana, Tchouaméni; Griezmann, Dembélé, Mbappè; Giroud.

🏆👉 Lineup MOROCCO (5-4-1): Bounou; Hakimi, Aguerd, Saiss, El Jamiq, Mazraoui; Ounahi, Amrabat, Boufal, Ziyech; En-Nesyri.

🏆 👉   Morocco making history winning the FIFA World Cup Quarterfinals on Saturday 10 December 2022 at the Al Thumama Stadium in Al Thumama, Qatar. The hero is Youssef En-Nesyri scoring the only goal of the match and enough to secure the victory and the pass to the Semifinals. Sadly, not even the entry of Cristiano Ronaldo helped Portugal find an equalizer, and the party started for Morocco. Coach Regragui wrote history, however it goes. Party is for Morocco, another feat of Regragui’s team that becomes the first African national team ever to reach the semifinals of the World Cup! The 1-0 draw against Portugal once again exalted the defensive phase of Regragui’s formation, capable of resisting even the Portugal forwards with only one great save by Bounou.

  •  Italian Serie A players called up in this game

🇲🇦 Morocco:  Sofyan Amrabat (Fiorentina)
Abdelhamid Sabiri (Sampdoria)
Walid Cheddira (Bari)

🇵🇹 Portugal:  Rui Patricio (Roma), Rafael Leão (Milan)

Morocco opened the score in the 42nd minute. Youssef En-Nesyri defeated Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa with a headed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Yahya Attiat-Allah.

Stats before the game. There are 11 previous meetings in the knockout phase of the World Cup between African and European teams, nine of which the European team won. The only two exceptions to this run are Senegal’s 2-1 extra-time win against Sweden in 2002 (round of 16) and Morocco’s shoot-out win against Spain in the previous round of this season. Morocco could become the first African team to qualify for the semifinals of a World Cup tournament. All of the previous three African teams that reached the quarter-finals were eliminated: Cameroon in 1990, Senegal in 2002 and Ghana in 2010. This will be Portugal’s third World Cup quarter-final; the Portuguese have qualified in each of the previous two: 5-3 over North Korea in 1966 and 3-1 on penalties against England in 2006. Portugal also scored as many goals in their last game against Switzerland as in their previous games eight matches in the knockout stages of the World Cup (six).

🏆 👉 Lineup MOROCCO (4-3-3):  Bounou; Hakimi, El-Yamiq, Saiss, Attiallah; Ounahi, Amrabat, Amallah; Ziyech, En-Nesyri, Boufal.

🏆 👉 Lineup PORTUGAL (4-3-3): Diogo Costa; Dalot, Pepe, Ruben Dias, Guerreiro; Bernardo Silva, Ruben Neves, Otavio; Bruno Fernandes, Gonçalo Ramos, João Félix.

🏆 👉   We are seeing one of the biggest flops.  Spain eliminated because Morocco win the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 on penalty shootouts on Tuesday 6 December 2022 at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar. Great merit for Morocco becoming the first African national team to win on penalties at the World Cup, played for only the second time by an African team (previously Ghana-Uruguay 2-4 in 2010). The penultimate eighth between Morocco and Spain ends 3-0 on penalties (after 0-0 on the pitch). Walid Regragui’s team arrives in the quarter-finals of Qatar 2022. The absolute protagonists are Bounou, impeccable between the posts in this match, and Achraf Hakimi, who transforms the decisive penalty with his spoon, driving crazy not only the many fans at Education City, but an entire nation that can now celebrate a historic milestone.

Second World Cup meeting between Morocco and Spain – in the first, in the group stage in 2018, Morocco went ahead twice before equalizing 2-2 through a last-minute goal from Iago Aspas. Spain are unbeaten in the previous three against Morocco (W2, D1). The two successes both came in the qualifying playoff for the 1962 World Cup in November 1961 (1-0 away, 3-2 at home).

✅   Stats before the game. Spain were eliminated in the last 16 of the 2018 World Cup, losing on penalties to hosts Russia after a 1-1 draw. The last time he got through this heat was in 2010 when he went on to take the trophy. Morocco have qualified for the knockout stages of a World Cup for only the second time, the first time in 1986 being defeated 0-1 by Germany. Spain will face an African national team at the World Cup in the knockout stage for the first time, having met them in the groups five times (W3 D1 L1). The only African national capable of beating Spain was Nigeria in 1998 (3-2), a match in which the current Spain coach played in the starting lineup. Morocco are unbeaten in four matches at the World Cup (W2, D2). The only African national team capable of avoiding defeat in the World Cup for five matches in a row was Cameroon (W2, D3 between 1982 and 1990).

🏆 👉 Lineup MOROCCO (4-3-3): Bonou, Hakimi, Aguerd, Saiss, Mazraoui; Ounahi, Amrabat, Amallah; Ziyech, En Nesyri, Boufal.
