🏆👉 Morocco won the FIFA World Cup Group F on Thursday 1 December 2022 at the Al Thumama Stadium in Al Thumama, Qatar. Morocco qualified to the Round of 16 and will face the second of Group G, which sees Spain, Costa Rica, Japan and Germany in the running. Great performance by Amrabat, a real bulwark in the defensive phase and the first point of support in every offensive proposition from Morocco. Heartfelt victory for Morocco and a great revelation of the World Cup reaching the knockout stage for the first time in 36 years. The offensive quality of the Canada team grows to the point of touching the post from a corner, but there’s nothing to do, they close the group with zero points. A sour end for Canada.

✅ Stats before the game. Morocco have never lost in their three previous meetings with Canada in all competitions (W2 D1), most recently a 4-0 friendly win in October 2016. This will be Morocco’s fifth meeting against a non-European team at the World Cup; so far the Lions of the Atlas have lost all their previous games against these national teams (Peru, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and Iran). Canada are eliminated from this World Cup having suffered two defeats in their first two games; in addition, it has lost all five matches in the competition, only El Salvador (6) has played more games losing every time in the tournament. The one against Belgium was Morocco’s third World Cup victory in 18 games played (D6 L9). All successes have come against European internationals (Portugal in 1986 and Scotland in 1998). This will be Canada’s first meeting against an African national team since October 2016, in which they lost to Morocco 4-0 in Marrakech and Hakim Ziyech scored twice. Canada’s only previous match against an African national team in official competition is against Cameroon in the Confederations Cup in 2001 (0-2 loss).
