The battle for the Scudetto is heating up. Although the scoreline suggests a comfortable win, the Nerazzurri faced some challenges throughout the match. The team’s success was largely due to their standout players: Lautaro opened the scoring, followed by Dumfries and Thuram sealing the deal, with Esposito adding a moment of joy by netting the temporary 2-1. With this win, Inter with 47 points maintains a 3-point lead over Napoli with 50 points as they await their rescheduled match against Fiorentina.

In their next Serie A fixture, Inter will take on Lecce, while Empoli will go up against Bologna.

Empoli made it a closer game in the 84th minute when Sebastiano Esposito found the back of the net with a right-footed shot aimed at the center. Liam Henderson provided the assist. It was a fantastic pass from Henderson, and Esposito made no mistake in front of Sommer. Empoli is now trailing by just one goal.

In a thrilling finish, Inter secured their victory in the 89th minute as Marcus Thuram struck a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner, thanks to an assist from Marko Arnautovic.

Empoli has faced Inter more than any other team, suffering 26 losses out of 33 encounters and conceding a total of 69 goals in Serie A. The Tuscans have managed to secure only four victories and three draws against them. In their last 14 league meetings, Inter has triumphed 13 times, netting 29 goals during this stretch, averaging 2.1 goals per match.

The sole win for Empoli in this timeframe was on January 23, 2023, when they claimed a 1-0 victory at the Meazza, thanks to a goal from Tommaso Baldanzi.
