Coppa Italia

The Italian Football Cup, known as Coppa Italia, is the annual domestic cup competition in Italy.  The Lega Calcio organized the Coppa Italia until the 2009-10 season.  After that, the Lega Serie A organizes it.

Juventus is the team with the highest number of victories in the competition, boasting 15 titles. They are followed by Roma and Inter Milan, each with nine titles. In addition, Juventus has also made the most appearances in finals, totaling 22, while Roma has reached the finals 17 times. The cup winner receives the Italian cockade, which resembles the roundels seen on military planes. Furthermore, the champion secures a spot in both the league phase of the UEFA Europa League and the Supercoppa Italiana for the next year.

Coppa Italia Format – Coppa Italia Frecciarossa tickets

The Coppa Italia features a total of seven rounds. It kicks off in August with a preliminary round that includes only the eight lowest-ranked clubs. In the first round, clubs from Serie B enter the fray alongside the 12 lowest-ranked Serie A teams from the previous season.  Moreover, this is unless they are participating in European competitions that year. By the end of August, these teams will have started their journey.

Inter, the reigning champions of Italy, will kick off their journey in the 2024/25 Coppa Italia Frecciarossa at the round of 16, which is standard for the eight seeded teams in the tournament. They will face one of the following teams: Udinese, Salernitana, Spezia, Juve Stabia, or Avellino. Alongside Inter, Napoli, Parma, and Lazio are the other Serie A teams in the lower right section of the bracket. The remaining eight Serie A teams join the action in the third round in January, leaving 16 teams in the competition. After the fourth round, the round of 16, quarterfinals, and the first leg of the semi-finals are played in quick succession, with the second leg of the semi-finals occurring in April, culminating in the final in May.
