🏆👉 We are set. Ecuador won the World Cup Kickoff defeating Qatar on Sunday 20 November 2022 at the Al Bayt Stadium in Doha, Qatar. Surely, a historic victory for Ecuador thanks to the goals by Captain Enner Valencia. Qatar started the World Cup badly at home with this defeat. A goal by the Fenerbahce striker Enner Valencia was canceled by the VAR for offside in the 3rd minute. First defeat of the organizing country at the first game in a World Cup. In group A, Holland and Senegal are on the field tomorrow.
Previously, three precedents between Qatar and Ecuador, challenges all played in Qatar for a balance sheet in a perfect balance of one win each and one draw (six goals scored for each side). There are no Italian Serie A players in this game.

Stats before the game: The most recent game saw the victory of Qatar in a friendly match played in October 2018 (4-3). For Qatar, this is the first participation in the World Cup and also the Qatari one is also the first nation in the Arab world to host the tournament; Qatar will try not to become the second host country to be eliminated in the group stage of a World Cup, after South Africa in 2010. The last four opening matches of a World Cup have produced a total of 17 goals (average of 4.3 goals per game). This is the first time that the tournament has started on a Sunday since the 1982 edition (Barcelona won 1-0 against title holders Argentina). Qatar won all three previous matches played at Al Bayt Stadium, with an aggregate score of 9-0. Qatar could become the first AFC nation to win its first match played in the World Cup. 10 of the previous 11 teams have lost on debut (including Israel in 1970), with Kuwait in 1982 being the only team to avoid defeat (1-1 vs Czechoslovakia).
