🏆👉 Poland won the FIFA World Cup Group C on Saturday 26 November 2022 at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar.   Poland win their first game in the World Cup after the draw against Mexico, Saudi Arabia lost after their sensational victory against Argentina. Overall, good performance by Saudi Arabia who missed a penalty and several chances to find the equalizer.

This is Poland’s first meeting with Saudi Arabia since a friendly match in March 2006: Poland won 2-1 thanks to a brace from Lukasz Sosin.

Poland opened the score in the 39th minute. Napoli player Piotr Zielinski defeated Saudi Arabia goalkeeper with a right-footed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Robert Lewandowski.

Saudi Arabia had the chance to equalize in the 45+1 minute! A giant goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny saved Salem Al Dawsari’s right-footed shot in the bottom left corner.

The awaited goal in the 82nd minute. It’s the first ever goal by Robert Lewandowski in a World Cup and he did it with a left footed shot to the center. Tears of joy!

✅  Stats before the game:   This is only Poland’s third match at the World Cup against an Asian national team: they lost 2-0 against the Republic of Korea in 2002 and won 1-0 against Japan in 2018.   Saudi Arabia have lost nine of their 10 matches against European national teams at the World Cup, with the exception of a 1-0 win over Belgium in 1994. They have lost all of their last eight games of this kind, not scoring a single goal in their last seven. Poland have kept clean sheets in their last two World Cup matches; from 1974 to 1978 alone did he record three consecutive clean sheets (series of three).  Saudi Arabia has won their last two World Cup matches, beating Egypt in their final match of the 2018 tournament and Argentina this year. They had won just two of their first 15 matches in the competition (D2 L11), back-to-back group stage victories in 1994.
