Italian Soccer Serie A
Australia 1 – 0 Denmark
60′ Mathew Leckie
🏆👉 Australia won the FIFA World Cup Group D defeating Denmark on Wednesday 30 November 2022 at the Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah, Qatar. This is a superb victory because Australia got their pass to the Round of 16, thanks to Mathew Leckie’s goal in the 60th minute. Overall the Australians deserved the result. Great bitterness instead for Denmark. Australia will face the first of Group C in the Round of 16.

Stats before the game. This is the second meeting between Australia and Denmark at the World Cup, following a 1-1 draw in the group stage in 2018. Australia have won just one of their four games (D1 L2) against Denmark in all competitions – the 1-0 win in a June 2010 friendly. Australia have lost eight of their last 11 matches (W1 D2) against European sides at the World Cup, always conceding at least one goal in the run. At the same time, one of the three matches in which the Australians avoided defeat was against Denmark in 2018 (1-1). Denmark have not won in five matches (D4 L1) at the World Cup, or since the success against Peru, on matchday one, in 2018; moreover, following the defeat against France, the red and whites could lose back-to-back group stage matches for the first time in the competition.
