2024-25 Serie A Week 3 Results and Scores.

Check out the Italian Serie A Week 3 Results Live Scores happening on Friday 30, Saturday 31, August and Sunday 1 September!  I’m excited to share that the Italian Serie A is set to kick off again on September 15 with Round 4. During the international break, some of our Serie A stars will be representing their countries in the UEFA Nations League and various friendlies.

👉 🇮🇹  I encourage you to check out this post and click on the links for real-time Serie A stats, lineups, Standings, and more.

As we wrap up Serie A Week 3, there have been some interesting developments.  Roma held Juventus to a goalless draw, which is disappointing news for Juve as they lost their sole lead in the standings. Juventus now shares the top spot with Inter, Torino, and Udinese, all sitting at 7 points. Meanwhile, Roma finds themselves in 16th place with just 2 points.   On a brighter side, Thiago Motta got to evaluate his new players, with Conceicao making a solid impression. De Rossi, on the other hand, chose to rotate between Soulé and Paulo Dybala, with the legendary player making his entrance in the second half.

Lecce celebrated their first win of the season, moving up from the bottom after defeating Venezia 1-0. Unfortunately, AC Milan is still searching for their first victory, as they ended up in a 2-2 draw with Lazio. On a brighter note, Napoli pulled off an exciting comeback to win 2-1 against Parma, with goals from new signing Romelu Lukaku, Anguissa, and Bonny. This victory lifts Napoli to fourth place with 6 points, while Parma drops to ninth with 4 points.

Torino secures a win, bringing their points total to 7. Venice, despite putting up a strong performance, stays stuck at just one point.   In the second half, Torino bounced back and scored the decisive goal through Saul Coco.

It was a thrilling one-sided showdown! Inter humiliated Atalanta 4-0 at Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.  Thanks to this victory, Inter has extended their unbeaten streak to 12 league matches against Atalanta, with an impressive record of 7 wins and 5 draws.

Serie A tickets

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Cagliari, 13th position with 1 point and a positive goal difference of “0”
Como, 19th position with 0 points and a negative goal difference of -3

Cagliari and Como ended the Serie A Week 2 match with a draw on Monday, August 26, 2024, at the Unipol Domus in Cagliari, Italy.  Como secures their first point in the championship, while Cagliari adds another to their tally. For Nicola and Fabregas, the quest for victory continues, but both teams see a boost in their standings. Cutrone levels the score against Piccoli, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

The first half was evenly matched, with the home team taking the lead, but Como came out strong in the second half, equalizing thanks to Cutrone and nearly clinching a win on a few occasions. Cagliari also had their chances, but ultimately, neither side could find the decisive goal.

In the upcoming round, Cagliari will face Lecce, while Como heads to Udine.

In the 44th minute, Cagliari struck first as Roberto Piccoli scored with a precise header from just a few feet away, sending the ball into the bottom left corner. The assist came from Sebastiano Luperto, who delivered a perfect headed pass.

In the 53rd minute, Como equalized as Patrick Cutrone scored with a right-footed shot from just a few feet away, sending the ball to the upper center of the goal. The assist came from Alberto Dossena.

Stats before the game:

This will be the seventh challenge between Cagliari and Como in Serie A: the Lombards lead for three two wins – completes the picture a draw. The two teams will return to face each other in the maximum championship for the first time after 42 years and 151 days, or from March 28, 1982 (Victory 2-0 of the Sardinians at Sant’Elia). Cagliari is unbeaten in three home challenges against Como in Serie A (2v, 1n), all between 1976 and 1982, with four goals scored and just one immediately. After the draw against Roma, Cagliari could remain unbeaten in the first two races of a Serie A championship for the first time since 2011/12 (two wins in that case). The last time the Sardinians instead drew both the first two seasonal games in the tournament dates back to 1981/82.
After the 0-0 against Roma, Cagliari may not conceded goals in both first two Serie A seasonal matches for the third time in its history, after 1979/80 and 1966/67.

Considering also the end of the last championship, Cagliari has maintained the door in charge in two of the last three games (1v, 1n, 1p), as many times as in the previous 32 Serie A races (7V, 10n, 15p).

Como could win one of the first two seasonal Serie A races for the first time since 1951/52 (two out of two in that case); Since then the Lombards have no longer found success in the first two matches in the following 10 Serie A championships.
Como has won only one of the last 35 Serie A trips (11n, 23p)-1-0 against Piacenza on March 2, 2003-specifically losing each of the six most recent in the tournament.

Juventus kicked off the 2024-25 season with a victory in their Serie A Week 1 match on Monday, August 19, 2024, at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Italy. Unfortunately for Como, who just moved up from Serie B, they struggled in this challenging encounter. The Thiago Motta era began on a positive note, as the team celebrated a winning debut with a solid performance, scoring three goals against Como.

Samuel Mbangula, in his senior debut, got things started with a goal in the 23rd minute. Just after halftime, Timothy Weah, with an assist from Yildiz, doubled the lead in the 46th minute. Dušan Vlahović came close to scoring twice, hitting the post on both attempts, while Andrea Cambiaso capped off the match with a goal in the 91st minute. Looking ahead, Juventus will head to Verona for their next game, while Como will face Cagliari away.

The two teams meet on the opening day of Serie A for the first time since the 1988/89 season, when Juventus won 3-0.  In fact, two of Como’s last three season debuts in the top division have been against Juventus, both resulting in losses.

Let’s roll the ball…

What an impressive way to lead the Bianconeri! Samuel Mbangula, just 20 years old, put Juventus ahead in the 23rd minute. He skillfully outmaneuvered Como’s goalkeeper, Pepe Reina, with a precise right-footed shot into the bottom right corner.  On the positive side, Mbangula is living up to Coach Thiago Motta’s expectations after being selected as a standout talent from the Next Gen squad.

Samuel thanking the fans after his opening goal.

Another goal, and the excitement is at an all-time high!!

Juventus are on fire! Undoubtedly, a spectacular goal before ending the first half in the 45+1.  On this occasion, Timothy Weah scored with a left footed shot to the center. First, Yildiz delivered a low cross, second, Vlahovic faked a move, and Weah took a left-footed shot right away.  As a result, the ball struck the crossbar before sailing over the goal line.

The victory is sealed in the 91st minute. Andrea Cambiaso scored with a powerful left-footed strike sending the ball into the bottom left corner. The assist came from Samuel Mbangula.

✅    Stats before the game:

Juventus faced a tough start against Como in Serie A, losing three of their first five matches (1 win, 1 draw) between 1949 and 1952. Juventus has gone on to remain unbeaten in their next 21 matchups (12 wins, 9 draws) against Como in the league. Their latest victory was a 3-1 win at Sinigaglia on February 22, 2003, featuring an own goal by Juarez, along with goals from Marco Di Vaio and Mauro Camoranesi for Juventus, while Fabio Pecchia scored for Como. Interestingly, Juventus has been the team against which Como has drawn the most in Serie A history, with 10 draws out of 26 matches; Como has three wins, while Juventus has claimed 13 victories.

Juventus holds the record for the most wins on the first matchday in Serie A history, with 59 victories, including seven wins in their last eight opening games (1 draw). Como is making a return to Serie A after a 21-year absence; on August 19, it will have been exactly 7758 days since their last top-flight match, a 1-0 win against Torino on May 24, 2003.  That is to say, the only longer wait for Como was between May 1953 and October 1975, totaling 8162 days. In the 2023/24 Serie B regular season, Como has matched the record for the most wins, with 21, alongside Parma and Venezia.
