🏆 👉   We are seeing one of the biggest flops.  Spain eliminated because Morocco win the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 on penalty shootouts on Tuesday 6 December 2022 at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar. Great merit for Morocco becoming the first African national team to win on penalties at the World Cup, played for only the second time by an African team (previously Ghana-Uruguay 2-4 in 2010). The penultimate eighth between Morocco and Spain ends 3-0 on penalties (after 0-0 on the pitch). Walid Regragui’s team arrives in the quarter-finals of Qatar 2022. The absolute protagonists are Bounou, impeccable between the posts in this match, and Achraf Hakimi, who transforms the decisive penalty with his spoon, driving crazy not only the many fans at Education City, but an entire nation that can now celebrate a historic milestone.

Second World Cup meeting between Morocco and Spain – in the first, in the group stage in 2018, Morocco went ahead twice before equalizing 2-2 through a last-minute goal from Iago Aspas. Spain are unbeaten in the previous three against Morocco (W2, D1). The two successes both came in the qualifying playoff for the 1962 World Cup in November 1961 (1-0 away, 3-2 at home).
