Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
AS Roma, 6th position with 59 points and a positive goal difference of +13
Venezia, 20th position with 25 points and a negative goal difference of -35

AS Roma ended the Serie A Week 37 game, the last home game, against Venezia with a draw on Saturday 14 May 2022 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy. The Giallorossi, still in the running for a place in Europe, Venezia, already mathematically relegated to Serie B.   On the last day of Serie A, Mourinho’s team will play their last European hopes in Torino’s home while Soncin’s boys could decide on Cagliari’s salvation race.

Monologue of the Giallorossi who stop at the crossbars (four) and the miracles of Maenpaa. Shomurodov replies to Okereke, Johnsen at the end of time risks signing the coup, Venezia see the episodes turn in favor only after relegation has taken place.  Incredible so, Roma with 20 corners while Venezia only 2.

Venezia, despite their relegation to the Serie B, surprised the Roman gladiators by opening the score in the 1st minute. It is David Okereke to defeat Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio with a headed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Mattia Aramu. Two of the five goals scored by Venezia in SerieA in the first minute of the game have been against Roma: Álvaro Recoba on 7 February 1999 and David Okereke tonight.

Venezia remain with 10 players. Referee Simone Sozza gave a red card to Sofian Kiyine in the 33rd minute for violent conduct.

Roma equalized for the 1-1 in the 76th minute. Eldor Shomurodov equalized defeating Venezia goalkeeper Niki Mäenpää with a right-footed shot to the high center.

✅ Stats before the game. After a 3-2 win on 7 November, Venezia could win both matches in a single Serie A championship against Roma for the first time in their history. Roma have won all their last four home matches against Venezia in Serie A, always keeping a clean sheet – the last Venezia away goals against Roma in the tournament were scored by Gino Raffin (brace in 2-2 on 13 January 1963). No team has recorded more clean sheets than Roma in home games in this league (10, on par with Milan), only in three seasons have the Giallorossi kept a clean sheet several times in home matches in Serie A: 12 in 2013/14, 12 in 1941/42 and 11 in 1935/36. After a streak of 10 defeats in a row, Venezia won the most recent match against Bologna: the Venetians could obtain two consecutive wins for the second time in this league, after last November (against Rome and Bologna).

👉 Lineup AS Roma (3-4-2-1): Rui Patricio – Kumbulla, Smalling, Ibanez – Maitland-Niles, Cristante, Veretout, Spinazzola – Perez, Pellegrini – Abraham.

👉 Lineup Venezia (3-4-2-1): Maenpaa – Ampadu, Caldara, Ceccaroni – Mateju, Crnigoj, Vacca, Haps – Kiyine, Aramu – Okereke.

👉 Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Empoli, 14th with 37 points and a negative goal difference of -21
Salernitana, 17th position with 30 points and a negative goal difference of -41

Empoli played their last home game ending the Serie A Week 37 game with a draw on Saturday 14 May 2022 at the Carlo Castellani Stadium in Empoli, Italy.   Salernitana loses a great opportunity to put a mortgage on the salvation race and now remains at the mercy of the results of Cagliari and Genoa, respectively against Inter and Napoli.

In Salerno, they are hoping for the Nerazzurri’s remaining scudetto hopes.  Empoli remain in 14th place at 38 points, but they do honor again this afternoon against a team determined to reach a goal.   An exciting draw at Castellani, with Salernitana who manage to equalize the disadvantage of the first half, after numerous miracles by goalkeeper Vicario and, in the final phase of the match, they waste the ball of victory with Diego Perotti, who gets a penalty kick saved.

In the next and last round,  Empoli will travel to Bergamo to face Atalanta, while Salernitana will host Udinese on their pitch.

Empoli opened the score in the 31st minute. Patrick Cutrone defeated Salernitana goalkeeper Sepe with a right footed shot to the bottom right corner.  The assist is by Kristjan Asllani. Curiously, Patrick Cutrone’s three Serie A goals this season have been scored against teams from Campania: against Salernitana today and in the reverse fixture and against Napoli.

Salernitana equalized for the 1-1 in the 76th minute. It is Federico Bonazzoli to level the situation defeating goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from very close range with a left-footed shot to the top left corner. The assist is by Ivan Radovanovic following a corner conceded by Vicario. Bonazzoli scored his 10th goal this season and is the 3rd player to reach the double figures of goals in a single Serie A season in the history of Salernitana, after Marco Di Vaio (12 goals in 1998/99) and Renzo Merlin ( 10 in 1947/48).

Vicario saved a penalty denying Salernitana taking the victory. In the 84th minute, Diego Perotti failed to convert the penalty because there was a hero on the pitch to save the penalty delighting his home fans at the Castellani goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

✅ Stats before the game. Balance sheet in perfect balance in the previous three Serie A matches between Empoli and Salernitana: Empoli 1 win, Salernitana 1 win, 1 draw.  Empoli won in the first leg of this championship, last October 23 for 4-2.  Salernitana won the only away match played in Serie A against Empoli: 3-2 at Castellani on 14 February 1999, thanks to Marco Di Vaio’s first hat-trick in the top league.  In Serie B, on the other hand, Empoli and Salernitana have challenged each other 24 times: 12 wins for the Tuscans, seven for the Campania region and five draws.  Considering Serie A and B, Empoli have won three of their last four league matches against Salernitana (1P); these last four crossings between the two teams have seen 19 goals scored (average of 4.8 per game), of which 13 by the Tuscans.

👉 Lineup Empoli (4-3-1-2): Vicario; Stojanovic, Romagnoli, Luperto; Parisi, Zurkowski, Asllani, Bandinelli; Verre; Cutrone, Pinamonti.

👉 Lineup Salernitana (3-5-2): Sepe; Gyomber, Radovanovic, Fazio; Mazzocchi, Kastanos, Coulibaly, Ederson, Obi; Verdi, Djuric.
