Atalanta also looking to cause an upset and grab those 3 golden points. After a series of eight consecutive matches without defeat in the league (W6, D2), Atalanta lost the most recent two (against Inter and Bologna): the last time that the Dea lost three matches in a row in Serie A was was in November 2022.

Atalanta has remained unbeaten in each of the last five away games played against Juventus in Serie A (W1, D4), after recording a series of eight consecutive away defeats against this opponent. Nine of the last 14 meetings between Juventus and Atalanta in Serie A have ended in draws (three wins for the Piedmontese, two for the Bergamo team complete the partial), as many “Xs” as in the previous 43 matches between these two teams in the competition. 👉 Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Empoli, 15th position with 25 points and a negative goal difference of -19
AC Milan, 3rd position with 56 points and a positive goal difference of +19

AC Milan keeping up the race to remain within the European zone by winning the Serie A Week 28 game against Empoli on Sunday 10 March 2024 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy. This is the second consecutive 1-0 in the league and the third victory in a row between Serie A and the Europa League for Milan, which thus rises to 59 points. Second consecutive 1-0 defeat, however, for Empoli, who remain on 25 points, one more than third-last Frosinone.

A goal from Christian Pulisic is enough for Milan to win these three golden points. The Rossoneri became dangerous after five minutes with the American, who turned and shot from inside the area, forcing Caprile to save. The goal that decides the match, however, arrives in the 40th minute, when Bennacer verticalizes for Okafor, who takes the goal and passes backwards for Pulisic, who kicks with his left foot and, thanks to a deviation from Luperto, finds the corner.  In the second half, the Rossoneri managed the game, making themselves visible only with shots from Loftus-Cheek and Chukwueze, both blocked by Caprile, while Empoli only came close to equalizing in the final stages, with a header hit the post by Destro, who was however stopped offside.

This is the 18th game in San Siro between Milan and Empoli, with a balance in the 17 previous matches of 11 victories for Milan, 3 draws and 3 successes for the Azzurri. First match in 1986, Italian Cup, ended 1-1 (Della Monica after Paolo Rossi); last last April, ending 0-0

AC Milan took the lead in the 40th minute. Captain America Christian Pulisic defeated Empoli goalkeeper with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Noah Okafor. The goal was given after a VAR review

Image

✅   Stats before the game: Empoli have won only one of the last 14 Serie A matches against Milan (5N, 8L): 2-1 on 23 April 2017, at San Siro, with goals from Levan Mchedlidze and Mame Thiam. Milan have kept a clean sheet in four of their last six games against Empoli in Serie A, after having conceded at least one goal in all of the previous 10. Empoli have avoided defeat in four of the last six matches against Milan in the second round of Serie A (W1, D3), although they have not scored a single goal in the last three. Since the beginning of December, only Inter have obtained more points and scored more goals than Milan in Serie A: 40 points and 39 goals for the Nerazzurri in the period, 30 and 30 for the Rossoneri.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Hellas Verona, 18th position with 23 points and a negative goal difference of -12
Lecce, 14th position with 25 points and a negative goal difference of -19

Hellas Verona won the Serie A Week 28 on Sunday 10 March 2024 at the Via del Mare Stadium in Lecce, Italy. Three very important points for Verona which leaves the relegation zone of the standings flying from the 18th to the 13th position. Lecce goes down and becomes 16th: not a great period for D’Aversa’s team, fresh from 4 defeats and 1 draw in the last 5 games. To make matters worse, D’Aversa was sent off at the end of the match for a headbutt to Thomas Michel David Henry from Verona, who was also got a red card in the 98th minute after a fight with Pongracic.

Verona’s aggressive approach in the first half hour of play broke the deadlock with Folorunsho: the shot was deflected however by Baschirotto, who was decisive in sending the ball into the corner where Falcone couldn’t reach. During the match, Lecce improved especially towards the end of the first half, dangerous with a crossbar hit by Almqvist and a turn by Kristovic saved by Montipò.

Hellas Verona took the lead in the 17th minute. Michael Folorunsho defeated Lecce goalkeeper Falcone with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Tomás Suslov.

✅   Stats before the game: Hellas Verona are unbeaten in eight matches against Lecce in Serie A (5W, 3D): this is one of the two longest open series of consecutive matches without defeat against a single opponent for the Scaligeri in the top division (as against Cagliari). After a series of three consecutive victories against Hellas Verona between Serie A and B, Lecce has not found any success in the five most recent matches against the Gialloblù in the league (1D, 4L) and in particular has not found the goal in four of these (just two goals scored, in the 2-2 achieved in the first leg of this tournament). Hellas Verona have won their last two Serie A away matches against Lecce, after having failed to find any success in the previous six (D2, L4): the only time they have recorded three consecutive away successes against a single opponent in the competition it was against Pisa, between 1982 and 1985. Lecce have conceded goals in each of their last 22 Serie A matches, already their longest losing run in a single season in the competition; from an offensive point of view, however, the Apulian team has not found the net in seven of the last 11 championship matches, a period in which they have won just once (2N, 8P).

👉 LECCE (4-3-3): Falcone; Gendrey, Baschirotto, Pongracic, Gallo; Gonzalez, Ramadani, Oudin; Almqvist, Krstovic, Banda

👉 Lineup HELLAS VERONA (4-2-3-1): Montipò; Tchatchoua, Magnani, Coppola, Cabal; Duda, Serdar, Folorunsho, Suslov, Lazovic; Noslin

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game
Inter, 1st position with 72 points and a positive goal difference of  +56
Bologna, 4th position with 51 points and a positive goal difference of +17

Inter with a sprint race won the Serie A Week 28 on Saturday 9 March 2024 at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium in Bologna, Italy. A difficult but overall deserved victory for Inter, who only needed a header from Bisseck to get full 3 points. In the second half, Thiago Motta’s team put Inzaghi’s team under pressure but were unable to break through the Nerazzurri wall. Three points that bring the Scudetto even closer. Inter have picked up 75 points in the current league season, only once in Serie A’s history a team gained more points after 28 matches, that is Inter in 2006/07 under Roberto Mancini (76).

Bologna slow down their pursuit of the Champions League but still remain firmly in fourth place. Bologna falls at home for the first time since last August 21st, Milan had been the only team capable of beating the rossoblù at the Dall’Ara.

Increasingly European ambitions for Thiago Motta’s incredible Bologna, even more so after the blow at the Gewiss Stadium in the direct clash with Atalanta. There are six victories in a row with which the rossoblù welcome the league leaders, the latest knockout. it dates back to the misstep in Cagliari last January 14th, while only AC Milan have advanced to the Dall’Ara on the first matchday this season.

Inter took the lead in the 37th minute. Yann Bisseck defeated Bologna goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski with a headed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Alessandro Bastoni.

Stats before the game: Bologna have remained unbeaten in three of their last four league matches against Inter (2W, 1D), including the two most recent ones – the last time the Emilians avoided defeat in three straight games against the Nerazzurri in Serie A dates back to the period between March 2013 and April 2014. After the 2-2 draw in the first leg last October 7, Bologna and Inter could draw both seasonal matches for only the second time in Serie A, after 2013/14. Bologna have won their last two home games against Inter in the league and have not achieved three successes in a row at the Dall’Ara against the Nerazzurri in Serie A since the period between 1973 and 1975 with Bruno Pesaola as coach. Bologna have won their last six championship matches, only once have they achieved at least seven consecutive successes in their history in Serie A: 10 between November 1963 and February 1964 with Fulvio Bernardini at the helm. Inter have gained 72 points in this championship and in case of success against Bologna they will reach 75 points after 28 matches, only once in the history of Serie A has a team won more points after as many seasonal matches: always Inter in 2006/07 with Roberto Mancini as coach (76). The Nerazzurri could also win at least 10 games in a row for only the third time in their history in Serie A: after 5pm between October 2006 and February 2007 and 11am between January and April 2021.
