Stats before the game.  After the 1-0 victory in the first leg, Empoli could remain unbeaten for two consecutive matches in the same Serie A against Juventus for the second time in its history, after the 1998/99 season (1W, 1D) – the bianconeri do not lose their two seasonal matches against a newly promoted team from 2012/13 (v Sampdoria). Despite their success in last August’s match, Empoli have only scored four goals in their last 13 Serie A games against Juventus, never finding more than one goal per game in the set – the last chance the Tuscans have made. more than one goal against the Piedmontese dates back to the 3-3 draw in January 2004.  Juventus have won all of their last four Serie A away games against Empoli, after having won four of the previous eight (2N, 2P) – the last home win for the Tuscans dates back to April 1999, 1-0 stamped by Stefano Bianconi.  Juventus are unbeaten in 12 Serie A games, equaled last season’s best streak under Andrea Pirlo, and two games away from 14 consecutive games with Sarri in 2019/20.

👉 Lineup EMPOLI (4-3-2-1): Vicario; Stojanovic, Ismajli, Luperto, Cacace; Zurkowski, Asllani, Bandinelli; Bajrami, Di Francesco; Pinamonti.

👉 Lineup JUVENTUS (4-4-2): Szczesny; Danilo, Bonucci, De Ligt, Pellegrini; Cuadrado, Zakaria, Arthur, Rabiot; Vlahovic, Kean.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Salernitana, 20th position with 14 points and a negative goal difference of -26
Bologna, 13th position with 31 points and a negative goal difference of -10

Salernitana ended the Serie A Week 27 game with a draw against Bologna on Saturday 26 February 2022 at the Arechi Stadium in Salerno, Italy.  The mission was to win to dream with salvation, for the moment just a mirage.   The draw is not the expected result for Salernitana remaining in the last position.   Salernitana drew the fourth consecutive game for the first time in its history in Serie A – only once did the Campania team remain undefeated for several games in a row in the top flight: five between April and May 1999 (the fourth against Bologna ).

On the twenty-eighth round, Salernitana will visit Inter at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium while Bologna is expected from the former match against Torino.

Bologna opened the score in the 43rd minute.  Marko Arnautovic defeated Salernitana goalkeeper Sepe with a headed shot to the center.  The assist is by Aaron Hickey.

Image

Salernitana equalized for the 1-1 in the 72nd minute.  Nadir Zortea defeated Bologna goalkeeper Skorupski with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Lys Mousset.

Stats before the game.  Sixth match in Serie A between Salernitana and Bologna: so far the balance is in perfect balance with two wins on each side and a draw.  Bologna won the first (January 1948) and last (August 2021) challenge against Salernitana in Serie A: in fact, Bologna could find success for the first time in both seasonal matches against Campania in the competition. Salernitana have hosted Bologna twice in Serie A, winning on both occasions – Bologna could in fact become the first team against which the Campania team win three home games in the top flight. Bologna have missed the appointment with the goal in their last two matches against newly promoted teams in Serie A (0-1 v Venice and 0-0 v Empoli) – the last season in which they did not score more dates back to 2004/05 competitions in a row against formations coming from the cadeteria in a single top league (four in that case).

SALERNITANA (4-3-3): Sepe; Mazzocchi, Dragusin, Fazio, Ranieri; L. Coulibaly, Ederson, Kastanos; Verdi, Djuric, Ribery.

BOLOGNA (3-4-3): Skorupski; Soumaoro, Medel, Theate; De Silvestri, Schouten, Soriano, Hickey; Orsolini, Arnautovic, Barrow.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Genoa, 19th position with 16 points and a negative goal difference of -25
Inter, 2nd position with 54 points and a positive goal difference of +33

Inter failed to win the Serie A Week 27 game against Genoa at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium on Friday 25 February 2022 in Genoa, Italy.   Inter wasted a chance to take back the first position remaining with -2 points below AC Milan having 57 points(Iner with one game in hand).  Alexander Blessin could become the second manager in the era of three points to win to draw all of his first five games ever in Serie A (after Sinisa Mihajlovic in 2008) – more generally Genoa have not impacted five consecutive games in the top flight since May 1993.

Ecuadorian forward Felipe Caicedo made his debut with Inter starting as a substitute in the 87th minute replacing Danilo D’Ambrosio.

Stats before the game.  Inter have won all of their last seven Serie A games against Genoa with an aggregate score of 25-0 – on only three occasions in Serie A history has a team won multiple consecutive games, without conceding a goal, against a single opponent: Napoli v Como (eight in 1984), Juventus v Piacenza (nine in 2003) and Juventus v Palermo (nine in 2016).  Inter have scored 25 consecutive goals without collecting any against Genoa in Serie A: the only series of this type longer in the history of the competition is 26, again for Inter, against Reggina (ended in 2008).  In the last 13 Serie A matches between Genoa and Inter played at Ferraris, there was only one draw, 0-0 in May 2013 – five Rossoblu and seven Nerazzurri wins (including the most recent three) complete the partial.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
AC Milan, 1st position with 56 points and a positive goal difference of +24
Udinese, 16th position with 25 points and a negative goal difference of -10

AC Milan lost focus failing to win the Serie A Week 27 game against Udinese on Friday 25 February 2022 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy.   Milan with a somber performance, Udinese snatch a deserved point with a convincing recovery.  AC Milan had the lead and then let it go.  The draw is more a victory for Udinese while for Milan a total flop on their quest to increase the gap in the leadership.

This is a deja vu. The first leg of this championship between Milan and Udinese ended 1-1: these two teams have not drawn both seasonal matches in the competition since 2010/11 (4-4 first leg, 0-0 second leg).   On the twenty-eighth day, Milan will play against Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona while Udinese will face Sampdoria.

AC Milan opened the score in the 29th minute. Forward Rafael Leão defeated Udinese goalkeeper Marco Silvestri with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Sandro Tonali.

Udinese equalized for the 1-1 in the 67th minute. Iyenoma Udogie defeated AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan from very close range with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Roberto Pereyra.

✅  Stats before the game.   Milan have not lost any of the four Serie A matches against Udinese since the arrival of Stefano Pioli: the last coach to remain undefeated in his first five benches in the Rossoneri against the Friulians was Alberto Zaccheroni between 1998 and the 2000. AC Milan have lost only one of their last 14 Serie A home games against Udinese (1-0 in September 2016 by Stipe Perica) – completing eight wins and five draws for the Rossoneri. After the draw against Salernitana in the last round of the championship, Milan could run out of successes for two consecutive games against opponents who start the day in the last five positions in the standings for the first time since December 2020 (two draws, respectively against Parma and Genoa). AC Milan have not conceded a goal in their last two home league games (0-0 v Juventus and 1-0 v Sampdoria) – they haven’t made it to three in a row at home, keeping clean sheets in the competition since October 2020, the only chance under the guide by Stefano Pioli.

👉Lineup AC MILAN (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Romagnoli, Hernández; Tonali, Kessie; Messias, Díaz, Leão; Giroud.

👉Lineup UDINESE (3-5-2): Silvestri; Becão, Pablo Marí, Peréz; Molina, Walace, Makengo, Arslan, Zeegelaar; Deulofeu, Beto.

The first and last place team Salernitana vs AC Milan ended the Serie A Week 26 game with a 2-2 draw at the Arechi Stadium.   Salernitana Coach Davide Nicola made his debut with the team after the sacking of Coach Stefano Colantuono.  AC Milan wasted too many chances and the lack of concentration of goalkeeper Mike Maignan was a negative point for Milan.  This draw is more like a win for Salernitana dreaming with salvation.

Inter wasted the chance to overtake the 1st position after losing against Sassuolo at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.   Inter remain in the 2nd position with 54 points and AC Milan with 56 points keep the first position after their draw against Salernitana.   After the defeat against Milan and the draw against Napoli, Inter got three consecutive matches without a win in the league for the first time since January 2020 (three draws in that case with Antonio Conte).

Napoli another team wasting the chance to overtake the 1st position after ending the Serie A Week 26 game against Cagliari with a draw at the Unipol Domus. Cagliari with this 1 point is enough to climb from the 18th to the 17th position leaving the relegation zone.  The draw is more like a victory for Cagliari and a flop for Napoli.

The Derby della Mole ended with a draw. Juventus succumbed to the pressure against Torino at the Allianz Stadium.  Juventus needed all 3 points to keep up climbing towards the top 3 positions. Torino claiming this 1 golden point for the honor denying Juventus to claim the full bragging rights to rule in Turin thanks to the equalizer goal by Andrea Belotti stopping Juve.

Sampdoria defeated Empoli at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium. Sampdoria winning in grand style thanks to the brace of forward Fabio Quagliarella. A fundamental victory for Marco Giampaolo’s men, who temporarily gain two positions in the standings, reaching 26 points, five more in the relegation zone. The difficult moment continues for Empoli, which returns to lose after two consecutive draws and sees the distance from the Sampdoria shortened to five points.  The highlight of the match is Fabio Quagliarella becoming the eighth player in the Serie A history scoring in 18 consecutive calendar years.

Roma slowed down their sprint race to gain points and climb to the top 6 positions.  Roma barely got a 2-2 draw at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium.  A brave Hellas Verona almost got the victory.   Two substitutes took care of saving 1 point for Roma:  Cristian Volpato and Edoardo Bove.  Coach José Mourinho got a red card in the 91st minute for protesting.

Fiorentina defeated Atalanta at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.   Fiorentina reached 42 points being -2 points below Atalanta. This defeat is a step back for Atalanta risking to lose the 5th position.  Sour note for Atalanta seeing Coach Gian Piero Gasperini being sent off in the 63rd minute for protesting.  Moreover, Atalanta seeing Ruslan Malinovskyi ‘s goal ruled out for offside.

The “salvation dream game.” Venezia and Genoa finished the Serie A Week 26 game with a draw at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium. The result makes you smile, only in part sharing 1 point each. Venezia – best in the first fraction drop at a distance and suffer the return of the Rossoblu in the second half. Svoboda saves a header from Yeboah on the line, Aramu grazes the post on the next overturn. Injury for Ebuehi. The battle to remain in Serie A next season continues.

Bologna defeated Spezia at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium.  Bologna are unbeaten in Serie A against Spezia, thanks to a draw followed by two wins. Bologna with this needed 3 points to be away the relegation area.  So far only against Verona and Fiorentina (1D, 3L against both), Spezia have played four matches in the top flight without ever winning.
