Bologna, 13th position with 28 points and a negative goal difference of -11

Bologna win the Serie A Week 26 game defeating Spezia on Monday 21 February 2022 at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium in Bologna, Italy.  Bologna are unbeaten in Serie A against Spezia, thanks to a draw followed by two wins. ✅ Stats before the game.   Spezia won only one of the nine league matches (between Serie A and B) in the 2000s against Bologna: 2-0 in February 2007 in the cadeteria (3D, 5L).  Since last December, Bologna is the team that has lost the most games in Serie A: 7/10 (2W, 1D) – the rossoblù have also not scored in the last two league games and have never registered three matches in a row without goals in the tournament with Sinisa Mihajlovic at the helm.  Bologna have conceded 40 goals in this league, in their history in Serie A only twice have they collected more goals after 24 matches this season: 43 in 1955/56 and 42 in 1949/50.  For the first time in Serie A, Spezia scored in eight games in a row, the Ligurians in the period earned 14 points (4W, 2N, 2P), less only than Juventus (18), Lazio (17), Naples (17) and Milan (16).  Spezia could win five away games in a single season for the first time in Serie A, the Ligurians have in fact won four of the 13 away games in 2021/22, as many as they have been victorious in 2020/21 (four, in 19 games however).

👉 Lineup BOLOGNA (3-4-3): Skorupski; Bonifazi, Binks, Theate; De Silvestri, Soriano, Schouten, Hickey; Orsolini, Arnautovic, Barrow.

👉 Lineup SPEZIA (4-2-3-1): Provedel; Ferrer, Erlic, Nikolaou, Reca; Sala, Kiwior; Gyasi, Maggiore, Verde; Manaj.

Napoli wasted the chance to overtake the 1st position after ending the Serie A Week 26 game against Cagliari with a draw on Monday 21 February 2022 at the Unipol Domus in Cagliari, Italy.   Cagliari battled looking for points to dream with salvation and remain in Serie A next season.  The draw is more like a victory for Cagliari and a flop for Napoli.

Udinese, 16th position with 24 points and a negative goal difference of -10

Lazio under pressure managed to draw the Serie A Week 26 game against Udinese on Sunday 20 February 2022 at the Dacia Arena in Udine, Italy.  This draw helps Lazio to remain within the European zone. It’s more like a lost for Udinese because they had the lead while for Lazio they avoided losing all 3 points.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:

Inter wasted the chance to overtake the 1st position after losing the Serie A Week 26 game against Sassuolo on Sunday 20 February 2022 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy.   Inter remain in the 2nd position with 54 points and AC Milan with 56 points keep the first position after their draw against Salernitana.   After the defeat against Milan and the draw against Napoli, Inter got three consecutive matches without a win in the league for the first time since January 2020 (three draws in that case with Antonio Conte).

Inter (17) is the team that has earned the most points from a disadvantage in this league, immediately behind we find Sassuolo (14) – but the neroverdi have also lost 17 points after going ahead in the scoring, only Verona ( 20) did worse.  Edin Dzeko (10 goals in Serie A 2021/22) is the oldest player in the double-digit number of goals this season in the top 5 European leagues

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Genoa, 19th position with 15 points and a negative goal difference of -25
Venezia, 18th position with 21 points and a negative goal difference of -21

The “salvation dream game.”  Venezia and Genoa finished the Serie A Week 26 game with a draw on Sunday 20 February 2022 at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium in Venice, Italy.  The result makes you smile, only in part sharing 1 point each. Venezia – best in the first fraction drop at a distance and suffer the return of the rossoblu in the second half. Svoboda saves a header from Yeboah on the line, Aramu grazes the post on the next overturn. Injury for Ebuehi. The battle to remain in Serie A next season continues.

Genoa have not won in 22 Serie A games (12D, 10L), already a negative streak in the club’s history in the tournament – the only non-promoted team to record a longer streak within a single season was Varese in the tournament. 1971/72 (28).

Venezia opened the score in the 13th minute. It is Thomas Henry to defeat Genoa goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu from very close range with a headed shot following a corner conceded by Nikola Maksimovic. The assist is by Pietro Ceccaroni.

Genoa equalized for the 1-1 in the 30th minute. Caleb Ekuban defeated Venezia goalkeeper Sergio Romero with a left footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by forward Mattia Destro.

✅  Stats before the game. Genoa have achieved eight wins in 15 matches against Venezia in Serie A (4P), completing three draws. The two most recent matches in the tournament between the two teams both ended 0-0, the last goal in this match was scored by Giovanni Bolzoni with Grifone in September 1962 (in the Ligurian win 2-0).  After losing their first home match against Genoa in Serie A in 1939, Venezia remained undefeated in all subsequent six home games against Grifone in the top flight (4W, 2N) – the last match at home by the Venetians in the tournament. dates back to February 1963 (0-0).  After a streak of 10 matches without any success in the league (3D, 7L), Venezia won the most recent match against Turin, considering the last three seasons in Serie A (1999/2000, 2001/2002 and 2021/2022) only once the Venetians obtained two victories in a row in the tournament (last November).

👉Lineup VENEZIA (3-4-2-1): Romero; Caldara, Svoboda, Ceccaroni; Crnigoj, Ampadu, Cuisance, Haps; Aramu, Nani; Henry.

👉Lineup GENOA (4-3-3): Sirigu; Hefti, Maksimovic, Vasquez, Cambiaso; Sturaro, Badelj, Rovella; Ekuban, Gudmundsson, Destro.
