Spezia overturned the result and win the Serie A Week 7 game against Sampdoria on Saturday 17 September 2022 at the Alberto Picco Stadium in Spezia, Italy. Gotti’s men play better, with more quality, and deserve the win the Ligurian Derby reaching their second win this season. Spezia reached 8 points in the standings, Sampdoria that has not yet captured a victory this season remain in the relegation zone with just 2 points.

In the next round, Spezia will visit Lazio, while Sampdoria will see it at home against Monza.

Previoulsy, Spezia have won two of the four Serie A matches against Sampdoria (1D, 1L) – that Sampdoria could in fact become the first opponent against which the Bianconeri have three wins in the Italian top league – both of Spezia’s victories against Sampdoria in Serie A have arrived at the Peak.

✅    Stats before the game.  In the last 10 Ligurian derbies played in Serie A, the host team has remained unbeaten on eight occasions (5W, 3D) – in particular the last two ended with an internal success enriched by a clean sheet (1-0 by Spezia against Sampdoria on 23/01/2022 and 1-0 for the Sampdoria against Genoa on 30 April). Spezia are unbeaten in seven Serie A games in which they faced a team with fewer points in the standings at the beginning of the day (4W, 3D) – however the last defeat dates back to a match against Sampdoria (1-2 on 22 October 2021). Salernitana lost the Serie A Week 7 game on Friday 16 September 2022 defeated by Lecce at the Arechi Stadium in Salerno, Italy.  Salernitana returning from the controversial draw  against Juventus failed to claim this home victory after five useful results.  The party is all for Lecce with an important away victory and their first win this season. First confrontation in Serie A between Salernitana and Lecce: in total there are 16 precedents in Serie B between the two teams, with the Apulians leading by seven wins to four – five draws complete the picture in the cadet tournament. Salernitana has always found the goal in eight previous Serie B home games against Lecce, obtaining three wins, three draws and two defeats – however the Campania region has not found the three points in the three matches against Salento played since 2010 (1N, 2P ). Sadly, Lorenzo Pellegrini celebrated his 200th appearance with Roma by failing to convert a penalty. Empoli ended with 10 players in the 87th minute with Akpa Akpro getting a red card.

AS Roma opened the score in the 17th minute. Argentinean forward Paulo Dybala defeated Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario with a left-footed shot to the top left corner. Mancini’s cross from the right, Luperto failed to deflect well, Dybala arrives first and puts his left behind Vicario with a great goal. Way to go.

Empoli equalized for the 1-1 in the 43rd minute just before ending the first half. It is Filippo Bandinelli to level defeating Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio with a headed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Petar Stojanovic.

Roma took the lead in the 71st minute. The goal by English forward Tammy Abraham from very close range with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Paulo Dybala.

Atalanta wasted the chance to remain in the sole position after their draw against Cremonese stepping down to the 2nd position.  Atalanta had to share 1 point with Cremonese ending with just 2 points and remaining in the relegation zone.

Napoli defeated Spezia at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.    A precious victory thanks to the late goal in the 89th minute by Giacomo Raspadori.  Spezia remains at 5 points. We might say it is a suffered victory because Spezia put up a strong fold until the end. In the next round, Napoli will play the away game against AC Milan, while Spezia will play an important salvation game against Sampdoria.

AC Milan defeated Sampdoria at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.  The victory helped AC Milan to continue the race toward the top position while Sampdoria remain in the relegation zone.  Milan played with 10 players since the 47th minute after Rafael Leão was sent off with a red card. At the moment Milan hooks Napoli at the top of the standings. Sampdoria Coach Marco Giampaolo also got a red card in the 97th minute for protesting.  In the next round, Sampdoria will seek their first victory of the season in another delicate challenge in the “derby” against Spezia, while Milan will play the super match against Napoli in San Siro.

Inter win in extremis against Torino at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium .  This victory is a boost for the morale of the team after losing their last 2 games last week against AC Milan and in the Champions League to Bayern Munich. Inter reached 12 points. Tough defeat for Torino who sees a draw away one minute from the end of the match. Torino collected a second defeat in the league,and now risk being overtaken by Juventus and Lazio.

Juventus slowed down their sprint race to start climbing the standings ending with a 2-2 draw against Salernitana at the Allianz Stadium.  Referee Marcenato canceled a late goal for Juventus in the 94th minute for offside.  Tough ending because Marcenaro also gave a red card to Juventus Coach Massimiliano Allegri and Arkadiusz Milik in the 96th minute and 3 minutes later to Juan Cuadrado while for Salernitana the red card to Federico Fazio.  In the next round, Juventus will visit Monza while Salernitana will host Lecce.

Salernitana opened the score in the 18th minute. Antonio Candreva defeated Juventus goalkeeper Mattia Perin from very close range to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Pasquale Mazzocchi. The whole action derived from an error by Juan Cuadrado.

Chaos for Juventus. Referee Marcenaro gave a penalty to Salernitana conceded by Gleison Bremer after a handball inside the penalty area. Krzysztof Piatek converted the penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner.

Juventus shortened the distance for the 1-2 in the 50th minute. Bremer defeated Salernitana goalkeeper Luigi Sepe with a headed shot to the high center. The assist is by Filip Kostic. A goal to remember because it is Bremer’s first goal for Juventus after his transfer.
