Atalanta win the Serie A Week 8 game defeating Fiorentina on Sunday 2 October 2022 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, Italy. Atalanta reached 20 points, a sum they had never reached after the first eight seasonal matches in a single season in Serie A, and returned to the top of the table in the company of Napoli also with 20 points.

It is a special victory for Atalanta Coach Gian Piero Gasperini because he reached Mondonico with 299 matches on the Nerazzurri bench at the top of the all-time coaching table in the history of the Club. It’s the third 1-0 of the season and fifth clean sheet for Gasperini’s men, who are confirmed as impenetrable in defense. On the other hand, it is the third defeat in the league for Fiorentina (all away), who remain in eleventh place in the standings.

The only goal of the game was scored in the 59th minute and enough for Atalanta to claim the victory.  Ademola Lookman defeated Fiorentina goalkeeper from very close range with a right-footed shot to the center.  The assist is by Luis Muriel.
