Spezia overturned the result and win the Serie A Week 7 game against Sampdoria on Saturday 17 September 2022 at the Alberto Picco Stadium in Spezia, Italy. Gotti’s men play better, with more quality, and deserve the win the Ligurian Derby reaching their second win this season. Spezia reached 8 points in the standings, Sampdoria that has not yet captured a victory this season remain in the relegation zone with just 2 points.

In the next round, Spezia will visit Lazio, while Sampdoria will see it at home against Monza.

Previoulsy, Spezia have won two of the four Serie A matches against Sampdoria (1D, 1L) – that Sampdoria could in fact become the first opponent against which the Bianconeri have three wins in the Italian top league – both of Spezia’s victories against Sampdoria in Serie A have arrived at the Peak.

Sampdoria opened the score in the 11th minute. Abdelhamid Sabiri defeated Spezia goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski with a right-footed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Tommaso Augello.

Spezia equalized for the 1-1 in the 12th minute thanks to an own goal by Jeison Murillo.

✅    Stats before the game.  In the last 10 Ligurian derbies played in Serie A, the host team has remained unbeaten on eight occasions (5W, 3D) – in particular the last two ended with an internal success enriched by a clean sheet (1-0 by Spezia against Sampdoria on 23/01/2022 and 1-0 for the Sampdoria against Genoa on 30 April). Spezia are unbeaten in seven Serie A games in which they faced a team with fewer points in the standings at the beginning of the day (4W, 3D) – however the last defeat dates back to a match against Sampdoria (1-2 on 22 October 2021). After the success against Empoli on the first day, Spezia have not won any of the last five Serie A matches (2N, 3P): the Ligurian bianconeri do not remain without successes for six consecutive matches in the competition from the period between November and December 2021 .  Sampdoria equaled their worst start in Serie A with two points after the first six games of the season, just like they did in 2013/14 – on that occasion the Sampdoria scored points in the 7th, thanks to a draw against Torino.
