Major victory for Atalanta winning the Serie A Week 7 game against AS Roma to keep up the battle for the leadership on Sunday 18 September 2022 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy.    Atalanta reached 17 points while Roma remain with 13 points.    Atalanta having to substitute goalkeeper Juan Muso in the 8th minute after a clash with his teammate Demiral.  Gasperini proposes a light attack due to the unavailability of Zapata keeping Muriel out. Pellegrini relegated to the median in place of Matic. Roma Coach José Mourinho got a red card in the 57th minute for excessive protesting. Numerous occasions for the Giallorossi: two for Tammy Abraham, Ibanez and Shomurodov. Yet, the ball did not find its way to the goal.

In the next round, Roma will play the away match against Inter, Atalanta will play at home against Fiorentina.

Atalanta opened the score in the 35th minute. Giorgio Scalvini defeated AS Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Rasmus Højlund.

✅ Stats before the game. Roma are looking for the third home success in a row without conceding a goal, something they have not been able to do for three years; Atalanta, on the other hand, have not conceded away goals in three games and are looking for a victory for the absolute record of points after seven days (16, set in 2019/20). Roma have won their last two league games against Atalanta, also under the guidance of José Mourinho, and have not achieved three wins in a row since 2009-2011, with Claudio Ranieri and Luis Enrique on the bench. After alternating between a draw and a defeat in seven home league games against Atalanta (4D, 3L), Roma won the most recent, last March 5; in the period, from 2015 onwards, the Giallorossi have lost more Serie A home games only against Napoli (four).
