2024-25 Serie A Week 7 Results and Scores.

Check out the Italian Serie A Week 7 Results Live Scores happening on Friday 4, Saturday 5, and Sunday 6 October 2024!  Mark your calendars! Serie A Week 8 will pick up again following the International Break for the UEFA Nations League on Saturday, October 19.

⚽️  The Serie A Top Scorers are Inter forward Marcus Thuram and Atalanta forward Mateo Retegui with 7 goals each.   The next group with 3 goals each are Dušan Vlahović (J), Patrick Cutrone (C), Christian Pulisic (M).

✅  Napoli is on top of the table with 16 points as they head into the international break, securing a 3-1 win.  Forward Romelu Lukaku was the standout performer with two assists and a penalty goal. Conversely, Como departs the Maradona with their heads held high, demonstrating impressive play and ball possession. Sadly, a mistake by Sergi Roberto in the build-up allowed Napoli to take the lead.

Antonio Conte’s Napoli have obtained three wins in their first three home games in the championship.  So far only five managers have won all of their first four home games in Serie A in charge of the Partenopei: Paolo Iodice, Luis Vinicio, Alberto Bigon, Carlo Ancelotti and Luciano Spalletti. Incredible, it has been 16 months since Napoli held the top spot in the league. This moment coincides with the presence of former coach Luciano Spalletti, who was in the stands at the Maradona for the match against Monza.

Inter secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Torino, thanks to a stunning hat trick from Marcus Thuram.  Torino had a tough time, finishing the game with just 10 players after Guillermo Maripán received a red card in the 20th minute.  Thuram opened the scoring in the 25th minute and added another in the 35th. Just a minute later, Zapata found the net for Torino. Thuram completed his hat trick with a goal

The Serie A Week 7 showdown between Monza and AS Roma ended with a draw at the U-Power Stadium. The second half sees Dovbyk break the deadlock with an impressive goal, but just minutes later, Dany Mota levels the score for the home team. In the closing moments, Roma maintains possession but can’t convert it into a winning goal.  A ray of hope for Monza in the league table, Monza now shares 4 points with Venezia, still sitting at the bottom, while Roma climbs to 10 points, matching Atalanta’s total.

Fiorentina celebrates at the Franchi Stadium claiming a victory.  Meanwhile, AC Milan faced a disappointing setback, unable to secure even a draw. It was quite the thriller!  Imagine, for the first time since January 23, 2022, a Serie A match saw two penalties saved by different goalkeepers. Fiorentina was involved, with Radunovic saving Biraghi’s shot and De Gea blocking João Pedro’s attempt in the Cagliari-Fiorentina game, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Lazio triumphed over Empoli with a score of 2-1, marking Empoli’s first loss in the league. Despite the defeat, Empoli showcased a disciplined and organized performance. The match turned in Lazio’s favor as they initially fell behind to Esposito’s goal, but Zaccagni leveled the score before Pedro secured the win with a stunning goal.

AS Roma, 10th position with 9 points and a positive goal difference of +3
Monza, 20 position with 3 points and a negative goal difference of -4

The Serie A Week 7 showdown between Monza and AS Roma ended with a draw on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, Italy. The second half sees Dovbyk break the deadlock with an impressive goal, but just minutes later, Dany Mota levels the score for the home team. In the closing moments, Roma maintains possession but can’t convert it into a winning goal.

A ray of hope for Monz in the league table, Monza now shares 4 points with Venezia, still sitting at the bottom, while Roma climbs to 10 points, matching Atalanta’s total.

In sum, Roma failed the task to win. Previously, Roma has claimed victory in three of their four Serie A meetings with Monza, with one match ending in a draw. If they succeed again, they will be the first team to face Monza five times in the league without a single loss. Not today. Merits go for Monza at least claiming one single point.

Monza, the only team still dry of victories, tries to give a jolt to its championship by hosting a Roma, fresh from the narrow defeat in the Europa League against Elfsborg.

Roma has managed to secure victory in just two of their last 14 matches (D4, L8) against teams from Lombardy in Serie A. Both wins came against Monza, with the most recent being a 4-1 triumph at the U-Power Stadium on March 2, and a narrow 1-0 win at the Olimpico on October 22, 2023.

In the 70th minute, Monza managed to level the score. Dany Mota found the back of the net, beating Roma’s goalkeeper Mile Svilar with a close-range right-footed shot aimed at the bottom right corner.

Stats before the game

Monza has managed to secure three draws and three losses in this season’s championship. This means the Brianza team might not achieve a victory in any of their first seven matches of the season for the first time in Serie A history.

Monza has struggled to secure a victory in their last 15 Serie A matches, with 6 draws and 9 losses. Their last win was on March 16 against Cagliari, where they triumphed 1-0. This marks their longest winless streak in the league since December 2014 to April 2015, when they went 16 matches without a win in Serie C.

Ivan Juric could become only the sixth coach to win each of his first three games in charge of Roma in Serie A, after Herbert Burgess, Mario Varglien, Rudi Garcia, José Mourinho and Daniele De Rossi. Furthermore, the current coach of the Capitoline team could also win three matches in a row for the first time in his career as a coach in Serie A.

Roma have drawn each of their first three away games of this championship (against Cagliari, Juventus and Genoa); the Giallorossi have never drawn their first four away games in a Serie A season. Overall, the last time the team from the capital recorded four consecutive away draws in the league dates back to the period between April and September 2019. After having achieved three consecutive away wins in the league, Roma have won only one of their last nine away games (D6, L2) in Serie A: the 2-1 win against Udinese, on 25 April.

A clash between the team that has attempted the most total shots in this league (Roma, with 103) and the team that has attempted the fewest (Monza, with 35).

Gianluca Caprari made his Serie A debut for Roma on 7 May 2011 against Milan (four league games for him in Giallorossi). The 1993-born player, who is close to 50 goals in the competition (49 so far), has scored four goals against Roma in the top flight and has only done better (five) against Fiorentina.

Among the goalkeepers who have made at least 10 appearances in Serie A this calendar year, only Vanja Milinkovic-Savic (79%) has a higher save percentage than Mile Svilar (77%) – followed by Michele Di Gregorio (76%) and Yann Sommer (75%) in the period.

Check out the Italian Serie A Week 6 Results Live Scores happening on Friday 27, Saturday 28, Sunday 29, and Monday 30 September 2024!

⚽️  The Serie A Top Scorers feature a group of five players, all with four goals to their name: Dušan Vlahović (J), Patrick Cutrone (C), Christian Pulisic (M), Marcus Thuram (I), and Mateo Retegui (A).

✅  We have new leaders!  Napoli keeps up their winning streak, achieving their third straight clean sheet.  Napoli beat Monza and also become the sole leaders with 13 points for the first time since the final matchday of Serie A 2022/23!    It has been 16 months since Napoli held the top spot in the league. This moment coincides with the presence of former coach Luciano Spalletti, who was in the stands at the Maradona for the match against Monza.

Meanwhile, Monza is struggling, still searching for their first victory in the league this season.  The outcome of the match between Napoli and Monza was determined in the first half. The Azzurri took the lead with a left-footed strike from Matteo Politano and quickly extended their advantage with Kvaratskhelia’s close-range effort following a rebound from McTominay’s shot.

Juventus is right behind in second place with 12 points after a solid 0-3 victory against Genoa. They capitalized on Torino’s slip-up, as their city rivals fell from the top after losing to Lazio.

Torino faced a tough defeat against Lazio at the Olimpico di Torino Stadium.  This defeat marks Torino’s first setback in the championship, which is certainly disappointing for the team. As a result, they dropped from 1st to 4th place in the standings, now sitting at 11 points. Their upcoming game will be at San Siro, where they will take on Simone Inzaghi’s Inter.  Sadly, Torino have not been alone at the top of the Serie A standings at the end of the day since the 1976/77 season, after 17 games played (29 points, considering two points for a win)

AC Milan defeated Lecce in San Siro Stadium.   Milan climbs to the top of the standings alongside Torino, both teams now boasting 11 points, while Lecce remains at 5 points. The match started off quite uneventful for the first half hour, but everything changed just before halftime. Milan scored three quick goals from Morata, Theo Hernandez, and Pulisic, sealing the game.

Roma secured a thrilling victory. The match saw Roma stage a comeback after falling behind in the first half when Joel Pohjanpalo put Venezia ahead. However, in the second half, Bryan Cristante leveled the score, and the young talent Niccolò Pisilli netted the winning goal.  With this win, the Giallorossi climbed to 9 points in the standings, temporarily matching Empoli. Unfortunately for Venezia, they remain at 4 points and feeling the heat as they sit in 18th place.

The highly anticipated Tuscan derby ended without any goals. The game struggled to find its rhythm, with a lackluster first half, but the home team showed more energy at the beginning of the second half. Fiorentina attempted to make an impact through Kean, but neither side could find the back of the net. Both teams earned a point, with Empoli remaining unbeaten and rising to 10 points, while Fiorentina climbed to 7 points.

👉 Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Monza, 19th position with 3 points and a negative goal difference of -2
Napoli, 5th position with 10 points and a positive goal difference of +5

Napoli triumphed in the Serie A Week 6 match on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Napoli, Italy. The Azzurri continue their impressive form, marking their third consecutive clean sheet. Not only did they secure a win against Monza, but they also claimed the top position in the league with 13 points for the first time since the last matchday of the Serie A 2022/23 season! It’s hard to believe that it has been 16 months since Napoli last occupied the league’s summit. On the other hand, Monza is having a tough time.  They are still on the hunt for their first win of the season.

The outcome of the match between Napoli and Monza was determined in the first half. The Azzurri took the lead with a left-footed strike from Politano and quickly extended their advantage with Kvaratskhelia’s close-range effort following a rebound from McTominay’s shot. In the second half, Monza attempted to push forward and create opportunities, but they struggled to find the finishing touch in the final third, leaving Caprile with little to do. Towards the end, substitutes Neres and Raspadori nearly added to the scoreline.

After a shocking 3-0 defeat to Verona at the Bentegodi, Antonio Conte’s Napoli has rallied with three consecutive wins and a draw against Juventus just a week ago. The Azzurri are firmly back in the Scudetto race and have also moved forward in the Coppa Italia, dominating Palermo with a 5-1 win at the Maradona.

Monza, under the guidance of Alessandro Nesta, is yet to secure their first league win, but they did manage to draw with Inter a couple of weeks ago. The team from Brianza has faced two draws and two losses in the championship, but they have made it to the next round of the Coppa Italia after defeating Brescia 3-1 this week.

The beginning…

Napoli opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, thanks to Matteo Politano, who scored with a left-footed shot right down the middle.

Napoli extended their lead in the 33rd minute when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia found the back of the net with a right-footed shot aimed at the center. Scott McTominay provided the assist.

✅  Stats before the game:

Napoli have won by scoring exactly four goals in two of their four Serie A matches against Monza; however, they have drawn and lost in the remaining two, without finding the back of the net.

Monza have remained unbeaten in five of their seven away matches against Napoli between Serie A and B (2W, 3D), however the two defeats have come on the only two of these occasions in which the two teams faced each other at the home of the Neapolitans before October: 5-0 in the cadet tournament on 20 September 1964 and 4-0 in the top flight on 21 August 2022.

Napoli have obtained 10 points in the first five matchdays of this championship: with a win against Monza they would rise to 13, a milestone that in the first six games of the season they have reached or exceeded six times in the previous eight Serie A tournaments, more than any other team in the period.

Of the teams currently in Serie A, Monza are the ones who have been waiting for a win for the longest number of league rounds: 14 (D6, L8); the last non-promoted Lombard team to have recorded a longer streak of consecutive matches in the top flight without a win was Atalanta, in 1994 (16).

Napoli have won their first two home league games with Antonio Conte on the bench, who could become the sixth Italian coach to find success in each of the first three home games with the Neapolitans in Serie A, after Paolo Iodice (in 1939), Luis Vinicio (in 1973), Alberto Bigon (in 1989), Carlo Ancelotti (in 2018) and Luciano Spalletti (in 2021).

Monza have drawn in four of their last six league away games (L2), as many times as in the previous 17; in addition, after the 0-0 against Empoli and the 2-2 against Fiorentina, they could draw three away games in a row for the first time in Serie A.
