The Serie A Week 7 showdown between Monza and AS Roma ended with a draw on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, Italy. The second half sees Dovbyk break the deadlock with an impressive goal, but just minutes later, Dany Mota levels the score for the home team. In the closing moments, Roma maintains possession but can’t convert it into a winning goal.
A ray of hope for Monz in the league table, Monza now shares 4 points with Venezia, still sitting at the bottom, while Roma climbs to 10 points, matching Atalanta’s total.
In sum, Roma failed the task to win. Previously, Roma has claimed victory in three of their four Serie A meetings with Monza, with one match ending in a draw. If they succeed again, they will be the first team to face Monza five times in the league without a single loss. Not today. Merits go for Monza at least claiming one single point.
Monza, the only team still dry of victories, tries to give a jolt to its championship by hosting a Roma, fresh from the narrow defeat in the Europa League against Elfsborg.
Roma has managed to secure victory in just two of their last 14 matches (D4, L8) against teams from Lombardy in Serie A. Both wins came against Monza, with the most recent being a 4-1 triumph at the U-Power Stadium on March 2, and a narrow 1-0 win at the Olimpico on October 22, 2023.

In the 70th minute, Monza managed to level the score. Dany Mota found the back of the net, beating Roma’s goalkeeper Mile Svilar with a close-range right-footed shot aimed at the bottom right corner.

✅Stats before the game
Monza has managed to secure three draws and three losses in this season’s championship. This means the Brianza team might not achieve a victory in any of their first seven matches of the season for the first time in Serie A history.
Monza has struggled to secure a victory in their last 15 Serie A matches, with 6 draws and 9 losses. Their last win was on March 16 against Cagliari, where they triumphed 1-0. This marks their longest winless streak in the league since December 2014 to April 2015, when they went 16 matches without a win in Serie C.
Ivan Juric could become only the sixth coach to win each of his first three games in charge of Roma in Serie A, after Herbert Burgess, Mario Varglien, Rudi Garcia, José Mourinho and Daniele De Rossi. Furthermore, the current coach of the Capitoline team could also win three matches in a row for the first time in his career as a coach in Serie A.

Roma have drawn each of their first three away games of this championship (against Cagliari, Juventus and Genoa); the Giallorossi have never drawn their first four away games in a Serie A season. Overall, the last time the team from the capital recorded four consecutive away draws in the league dates back to the period between April and September 2019. After having achieved three consecutive away wins in the league, Roma have won only one of their last nine away games (D6, L2) in Serie A: the 2-1 win against Udinese, on 25 April.
A clash between the team that has attempted the most total shots in this league (Roma, with 103) and the team that has attempted the fewest (Monza, with 35).
Gianluca Caprari made his Serie A debut for Roma on 7 May 2011 against Milan (four league games for him in Giallorossi). The 1993-born player, who is close to 50 goals in the competition (49 so far), has scored four goals against Roma in the top flight and has only done better (five) against Fiorentina.
Among the goalkeepers who have made at least 10 appearances in Serie A this calendar year, only Vanja Milinkovic-Savic (79%) has a higher save percentage than Mile Svilar (77%) – followed by Michele Di Gregorio (76%) and Yann Sommer (75%) in the period.
