Verona regained victory by beating Venezia in a comeback on Friday 4 October 2024 at the Marc'Antonio Bentegodi Stadium in Verona, Italy. Venezia break the deadlock at the start with a header from Gaetano Oristanio, but the Gialloblù respond immediately with a volley from Casper Tengstedt that beats Jesse Joronen.

The Venezia goalkeeper is unlucky when, ten minutes from the 90th minute, he lets the ball bounce off him after a header from Grigoris Kastanos. It is the decisive goal for Hellas, who take home three very important points.

Just before the game, Hellas Verona are undefeated against Venezia in Serie A, thanks to five wins and a draw, only against two other teams are the Gialloblu undefeated in the top division: Livorno (2W) and Catania (4W, 2D).

Previously, Venezia is the team faced most by Hellas Verona among those against which the Gialloblu have 100% home success: three home wins, with five goals scored and only one conceded.

In the next round, after the international break, the Gialloblù will face Monza, again here at the Bentegodi. Venezia will instead play at home, hosting Atalanta.

Venezia have failed to score more than one away goal in Serie A since their last away success in the competition (12 February 2022 against Torino with goals from Haps and Črnigoj); since then, the orange and black and greens have had two draws and nine defeats in 11 away games in the top division.

With one goal and three assists, Darko Lazovic has already been involved in four goals in this championship, finding himself just one participation away from what he did in the 2023/24 Serie A (three goals, two winning passes) – in particular, in the first seven seasonal appearances in the top division he had found a maximum of two active participations (in 2015/16 and 2018/19, in both cases with Genoa).

Joel Pohjanpalo is the first Venezia player to find the net in two consecutive appearances in Serie A since Thomas Henry in May 2022 (against Salernitana and Bologna) – the only one to manage it in three consecutive games in the era of three points for a win was Filippo Maniero (twice four in a row, once three).
