🏆👉   Italy midfielder Michael Folorunsho is living a memorable experience.  Folorunsho debuted with Italy on 9 June 2024 in a friendly match against Bosnia and Herzegovina at Stadio Carlo Castellani.  Italy 1 – 0 Bosnia.  Folorunsho came as a substitute to goalscorer Davide Frattesi in the 76th minute.

Folorunsho received his first call-up in March and traveled with the team to the USA. On 20 May, Verona, for whom he starred last season, secured survival.  Folorunsho made his first European Championship appearance, coming on for Nicolò Barella in the closing stages against Albania on Saturday 15 June.  (Italy 2 -1 Albania)

Folorunsho: “I never stopped dreaming”

Folusco mentioned during the press conference on Wednesday 19 June ahead of the UEFA EURO 2024 Matchday against Spain:  “A year ago, I would have considered it impossible for me to be at the European Championship with Italy.  At the root of everything, there’s hard work. I’ve never stopped dreaming, and this has pushed me to reach this point. However, it’s when you reach certain levels that the hard part comes because you have to stay there. For me, it’s a new point of departure. I know I have teammates who are ahead of me, but I’ll continue to work day after day to improve.”

If Spalletti decides to throw him into the mix against Spain tomorrow, he certainly won’t hold back: “We’re preparing for the match really well. We’re working hard, putting everything into it to make sure we’re ready. If I play, you’ll have to ask the Coach why he made that decision. For me, it’s an honour to be here, and I’ll be ready. I’d be willing to play in any role, even in goal! The position I play in isn’t a problem. The important thing is to help the team.”

His journey has been a long one, starting from the suburbs of Rome, where he made a name for himself while wearing the jerseys of Vigor Perconti, Tor Sapienza and Savio. He then became part of the Lazio youth sector before joining Virtus Francavilla in Serie C. He spent two seasons there, scoring eight goals in 61 appearances and catching the attention of Napoli, who signed him before sending him out on loan. Indeed, Michael had spells at Bari, Reggina and Pordenone, after which he played for Reggina and Bari again. Last summer was a turning point: Baroni, who had already coached him in Reggio Calabria, wanted him at Verona. From one end of the country to the other, his tour of Italy continued. And he certainly impressed in 2023/24, making full use of his technical quality and speed. He ended up scoring five goals in 34 appearances, numbers that only partly describe his importance to the team.

“Every player has to go down their own path. I wouldn’t ever choose to change mine and am proud of what I’ve done. I’ve continued to work hard and am ready for these matches, which I previously thought were too big for me. There are many who arrive quicker, and there are those who arrive later.” He dedicated his call-up to his family (“who have always supported me”) and hopes to put a smile on millions of fans’ faces: “It’s wonderful to see so many Italians throughout the world ready to support and embrace us. We want to make them proud.”

The Rossoblù derby at the Ferraris with Genoa and Bologna finished their respective seasons in the best possible way, positive for both. Genoa have achieved a quiet salvation as newly promoted players, while Motta’s men have achieved a sensational objective with qualification for the next Champions League. Gilardino’s first season as Serie A coach ends with Ferraris’ applause, leading his team to 49 points. Smiles also for Thiago Motta who, despite today’s defeat, was celebrated and greeted warmly by his players in the center of the pitch before his final farewell.

AC Milan kept the 2nd position despite their draw against Salernitan in San Siro. Salernitana are already relegated to the Serie B.  The match’s highlights included the farewell of Coach Stefano Pioli and French forward Olivier Giroud, who stops at 99 goals and does not reach triple figures. Simon Kjaer also played his last game with the Rossoneri, Antonio Mirante, and Mattia Caldaraare all departing.  Salernitana ruined the party for Pioli and Giroud finding an equalizer in the final minutes with goals from Sambia and Simy, after the Devil had taken the lead 3-1 thanks to goals of Leao, Giruoud and Calabria.

Juventus returned to victory in the league after six consecutive draws, cleared Bologna and rose to third place in the standings with 71 points, but will have to wait for Atalanta’s two matches to find out if this will be their final position. Monza, on the other hand, ended their season with a streak of nine games without success, but also with 45 points and the certainty of twelfth place in the standings.

Inter “Winner of the 2023-204 Scudetto” ended the Serie A Week 38 game against Hellas Verona with a draw on Sunday 26 May 2024 at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium in Verona, Italy.  Incredible, Inter have won 93 points in this tournament and only on four occasions has a team done better in a single Serie A season considering three points for a win all along: Torino 1947/48 (94), Inter 2006/07 (97), Juventus 2013/14 (102) and Juventus 2017/18 (95).

Inter took the lead in the 10th minute. Marko Arnautovic defeated Hellas Verona goalkeeper Simone Perilli with a right footed shot to the top right corner.

Hellas Verona equalized in the 16th minute. Tijjani Noslin defeated Inter goalkeeper Emil Audero with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Tomás Suslov.

Verona overturning the result breaking the lock in the 37th minute. Tomás Suslov scored with a left footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Tijjani Noslin.

✅ Stats before the game: Inter have won each of their last seven Serie A matches against Hellas Verona: the Nerazzurri have managed to achieve more consecutive successes against a single opponent in the league over the last 55 seasons only against Catania (eight, between 1984 and 2009), Empoli (nine, between 2015 and 2022) and Pescara (eight, between 1988 and 2017). Hellas Verona have conceded goals in each of their last 25 league matches against Inter: the Gialloblù’s last clean sheet against the Nerazzurri in Serie A dates back to 9 February 1992, a 1-0 home success with Eugenio Fascetti in bench. Among the opponents against whom Inter are unbeaten in Serie A away in the three points for a win era (since 1994/95), Hellas Verona is the one they have faced the most times in the period: 12 (9W, 3D) , in which he also scored an average of 2.6 goals per match.

Inter 2023/24 is currently recording the fifth best performance ever for a team in terms of goal difference in a Serie A season: +67, ahead of which are only Torino 1947/48 (+92), Milan 1949/50 (+73), Torino 1946/47 (+69) and Milan 1950/51 (+68). Hellas Verona survived for the fifth consecutive season in Serie A: the yellow-blues in particular obtained 19 points after the winter transfer window closed on 1 February (out of 37 total in the current tournament), more than any other in the period team that will finish the tournament at the bottom of the table.

👉    Hello, my friends. Here are the 2023-2024 Italian Serie A Week 37 RESULTS / Thirty-seventh Round on Friday 17, Saturday 18, Sunday 19, and Monday 20 May 2024.

Inter won the 2023-2024 Italy’s Champions winning the Scudetto last week after defeating AC Milan in the Milan Derby.   Inter’s 20th Italian league title and earn the Nerazzurri a second star on their shirts.  The historic moment for Inter was on Sunday with the Official Award Ceremony to receive the Scudetto after the draw against Lazio which ended with a 1-1 draw.

AS Roma survived the pressure and defeated Genoa.  Three golden points take Roma to the Europa League qualification and still leave a small hope for the Champions League, but a lot will depend on the fate of Atalanta.  Mathematically speaking, with this result, Roma can no longer be reached by Lazio, by virtue of the direct matches in their favor.   Roma beat Genoa 1-0 thanks to the goal by Romelu Lukaku.

The bad news is for AC Milan beaten by Torino with a 3-1.  Yet, despite the defeat, Milan remain in the 2nd position.  The good news is for Torino overtaking Napoli, who are now in tenth place in the table. With this victory, Torino climbed to ninth place and keeps alive the hope of qualifying for the next Conference League.
