Torino won the Serie A Week 37 on Saturday 18 May 2024 at the Olimpico di Torino Stadium in Turin, Italy. The great news for Torino because they overtakook Napoli in ninth place, just one point behind Fiorentina who however has one match less than the Granata. If Juric’s men fail to overtake the Viola, to participate in the next Conference League they will have to hope for the victory of the Italian team in the final of the same competition, scheduled for May 29th. Milan remains at 74 points but second place was already certain before today’s match.
Toro scored the hat trick in the very first moments of the second half thanks to Ricardo Rodriguez’s gem and effectively closes the match at the Olimpico. Milan shortened in the 55th minute with Bennacer on a penalty kick awarded by Pulisic but then failed to fully return to the match, even after the entry of Leao and Giroud. The hope of qualifying for the next Conference League therefore remains alive for the Granata, while Milan instead suffered their seventh defeat in the championship.
Torino took the lead in the 26th minute. Duván Zapata defeated AC Milan goalkeeper with a headed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Ricardo Rodríguez. Zapata has scored the joint-most headed goals in the big-5 European leagues this season: eight (along with Harry Kane).

✅ Stats before the game: Milan have won six of their last eight Serie A matches against Torino (N1, L1), as many successes as in the previous 17 matches against the Granata in the tournament (N9, L2). In general, the balance of the 155 matches between the two teams in the competition is 65 victories for the Rossoneri against 34 for the Granata and 56 draws. Torino have won three of their last five home matches against Milan in Serie A (1N, 1L), as many victories as in the previous 24 home matches against this opponent in the competition (16N, 5L). After four consecutive league matches without a goal, Torino scored two in the last round of Serie A, winning 2-1 against Hellas Verona; the granata could win two matches in a row in the tournament by scoring at least two goals for the first time since October 2022 (two in that case, the second of which against Milan). Since the beginning of 2024, Milan have scored at least three goals in nine of the 18 matches played in Serie A: only Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal (10) have scored three goals more times in separate matches compared to the Rossoneri (nine) in this period in top five European championships. Milan have drawn their last two away games in Serie A and have not achieved three consecutive “X” signs in the competition since the period between November and December 2018, in that case three with Gennaro Gattuso on the bench.
