Empoli living a miracle. The dream continues after they won the Serie A Week 38 against AS Roma on Sunday 26 May 2024 at the Carlo Castellani Stadium in Empoli, Italy. Empoli needed this victory to save themselves, and they did! In the 93rd minute through he goal scored by M’Baye Niang, the former AC Milan’s decisive goal at the last second sealed a crazy ride. Until the end, Empoli never stopped attacking, crushing Roma in their own half and managing, in the end, to win a historic match.

Simply put, EMPOLI REMAIN IN SERIE A NEXT SEASON!  Empoli avoid relegation for the 3rd consecutive season remaining in the topflight for three seasons in a row for the first time in their history.

Empoli took the lead in the 13th minute. Matteo Cancellieri defeated AS Roma goalkeeper with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Emmanuel Gyasi.

Roma equalized before ending the first half in the 45+1. Houssem Aouar defeated Empoli goalkeepwer with a headed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Angeliño.

M’Baye Niang became the hero for Empoli with a late goal in the 93rd minute. This goal not only to secure the victory but also the ticket to remain in Serie A next season.

✅    Stats before the game: Empoli’s last home success against Roma in Serie A dates back to 17 February 2007: 1-0, thanks to a goal by Nicola Pozzi, with Luigi Cagni as coach; since then, five Giallorossi victories and two draws in seven matches at the Castellani between the two teams in the top division. Empoli could be relegated to Serie B for the first time since Serie A 2018/19; on the other hand, the Tuscans could maintain the category for three consecutive seasons for the first time in their history in Serie A.
