Tunisia faced Sweden in their first match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on June 14, where they experienced a heavy defeat of 5-1 at Monterrey Stadium. In the wake of this loss, the Tunisian Football Federation decided to part ways with manager Sabri Lamouchi and brought in seasoned French coach Hervé Renard to lead the team.
