Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Lazio, 7th position with 56 points and a positive goal difference of +8
Empoli, 16th position with 32 points and a negative goal difference of -24

Lazio won the Serie A Week 36 game against Empoli on Sunday 12 May 2024 at the Olimpio di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy. Lazio reached 59 points and continues to dream of being able to participate in the 2024-25 Champions League. Lazio guaranteed the arithmetic of that place, going plus eight over Napoli. while Empoli remained stuck at 32 and must guard against the potential returns of Udinese and Sassuolo.

Empoli are fresh from a draw (0-0) against Frosinone, but still remain in the fight to avoid relegation. It currently boasts just a two-point margin over 18th place, occupied by Udinese with 30 points. Away from Castellani, however, the blue and whites have been on a losing streak for four consecutive championship games and, so far, have only won four times (three draws, 10 defeats to boot).

In the next round of the championship, Lazio will be involved in San Siro against Inter: match scheduled for Sunday 19 May 2024. An away challenge also for Empoli, who will still play on Sunday 19 May but on the Udinese pitch.

Lazio took the lead before ending the first half in the 45+3’minute. Patric defeated Empoli goalkeeper from very close range with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Mattia Zaccagni following a corner conceded by Emmanuel Gyasi.

Lazio sealed the victory in the 89th minute. Matías Vecino scored with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Pedro.with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Pedro.

✅    Stats before the game: Lazio have won their last two Serie A matches against Empoli without conceding a goal; The Biancocelesti had already achieved two successes in a row without goals conceded against the Azzurri twice in the competition, but they never reached three. Among the teams against which they have never lost at home in Serie A, Empoli is the one Lazio has faced the most: the Biancocelesti have in fact achieved nine wins and four draws in 13 home matches against the Tuscans. Since the arrival of Igor Tudor, Lazio have achieved four successes in six Serie A matches (1N, 1P), as many as in the previous 10 (1N, 5P); the Biancocelesti also kept a clean sheet three times in the period, as many clean sheets as those obtained in the previous 12. Tudor could win his fourth home match out of four in charge of Lazio, equaling the records of Delio Rossi (2005) and Alfredo Monza (1958) as the best home start for a new coach on the Biancoceleste bench from the post-war period to today.  Empoli have failed to score in seven of their last nine Serie A matches and in the period from the beginning of March onwards, the Tuscan team was the team in the top five European leagues not to have scored in the most matches.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game
Bologna, 4th position with 64 points and a positive goal difference of +22
Napoli, 8th  position with 51 points and a positive goal difference of +9

Bologna are within the European zone and climbed to the 3rd position after winning the Serie A Week 36 game on Saturday 10 May 2024 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, Italy. Bologna with a prestigious victory beating Napoli, three points in three minutes. It is the eighth consecutive useful result for Bologna, who are ever closer to qualifying for the Champions League, which would be mathematical in the event that Roma were unable to beat Atalanta tomorrow evening. However, Napoli’s negative period continues, as they suffered their second defeat in the last four games and risk being overtaken in the standings by Fiorentina, a point behind but with two games less. It has now become a real countdown for Napoli fans to finally end this indefinable year and wake up from this nightmare.

The first goal came in the 9th minute, with Ndoye’s header following an assist from Odgaard deflected by Olivera, while the rossoblù doubled their lead in the 12th minute with another header, this time from Posch following a corner from Urbanski cleared by Calafiori. Napoli would have the opportunity to reopen the match in the 20th minute, but Ravaglia saved Politano’s penalty, awarded by Pairetto for a foul by Freuler on Osimhen. The Azzurri continue to push, coming close to a 1-2 draw with Anguissa, Olivera and Lobotka, while in the second half there were no opportunities on both sides. The two center forwards each have one, but Meret and Ravaglia are good at opposing Zirkzee and Osimhen respectively.

✅  Stats before the game: After the 0-0 draw in the first leg, Napoli and Bologna could draw the two seasonal Serie A matches for the first time since 1979/80, when the first of the two matches ended 0-0 and the second 1-1. Bologna is the team against which Napoli has scored the most goals in Serie A (194) and could become the fourth to suffer 50 defeats by the Neapolitans, after Torino (51), Fiorentina (52) and Lazio (54). From the 2013/14 season onwards, Napoli have won eight out of nine home matches against Bologna in Serie A (1P), scoring 28 goals; in the period the Neapolitans achieved more home successes only against Sampdoria (9/10) and Udinese (10/11), finding more goals only against Lazio (31) and Udinese (34). Napoli have conceded goals in 14 consecutive games in Serie A (last clean sheet in the 0-0 draw against Lazio on January 28th); only once did the Neapolitans fare worse in the competition, between August 1997 and January 1998, when they reached 17 games in a row with at least one goal conceded.

👉 Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
AC Milan, 2nd position with 71 points and a positive goal difference of +25
Cagliari, 15th position with 33 points and a negative goal difference of -23

AC Milan won the Serie A Week 36 game crushing Cagliari on Saturday 11 May 2024 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy. It is a great victory for Milan with 5 goals. This is a delicate moment for Milan despite the arithmetic placement in the Champions League having already arrived a few weeks ago. Even today the fans did not support the team as a sign of protest asking for investments for the near future. One of the banners displayed read: “We demand and deserve a strong and winning club. Milano does not settle”.The Rossoneri are coming off a spectacular draw here at San Siro against Genoa 3-3, and have not won at home since the 3-0 defeat against Lecce last 6 April.

Anything but a trivial match for Cagliari, failed to find oxygen in order to save themselves. In fact, the rossoblù are floating in 15th place with 33 points, only 3 more than Udinese who are currently the team to take as a reference for the relegation zone. In a week’s time the rossoblù will have the very important match at the Mapei against Sassuolo.

AC Milan took the lead in the 36th minute. Ismaël Bennacer defeated Cagliari goalkeeper
Simone Scuffet with a left-footed shot to the center.

AC Milan with another goal in the 59th minute. Christian Pulisic scored with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Rafael Leão.

Cagliari scored an honor goal in the 63rd minute. Nahitan Nández defeated AC Milan goalkeeper Marco Sportiello with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Gabriele Zappa.

Milan with a 3-1 in the 74th minute. Tijjani Reijnders scored with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Théo Hernández following a corner conceded by Yerry Mina.

A poker for AC Milan in the 83rd minute. Rafael Leão scored from very close range with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Ismaël Bennacer.

AC Milan sealed the victory in the 87th minute. Captain America Christian Pulisic scored with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Noah Okafor.

Stats before the game: Milan is the team that has beaten Cagliari the most times in Serie A: for the Rossoneri against the Rossoblù 46 wins, 27 draws and eight defeats – in particular the Lombards have won seven of the last eight matches against the Sardinians, conceding only two goals in the partial.  Milan’s last home defeat against Cagliari in Serie A dates back to June 1997 (0-1, goal by Muzzi); since then, since the 1998/99 season, the Rossoneri have had 17 wins and two draws against the Sardinians for a points average of 2.79, the highest in the competition for a team against a single opponent faced at least 15 times in the period. Milan have not won for four games in Serie A (D3, L1) and have not fared worse in the competition since February 2023 when they went five games in a row without success (D2, L3) – the last Rossoneri coach to reach the championship twice five races without success was Filippo Inzaghi (three between 2014 and 2015). Milan have conceded five goals in their last two Serie A home games (three against Genoa, two against Inter), as many goals as in the previous 10; the Rossoneri have not conceded at least two goals for three home games in a row since January 2021 in the competition. Cagliari have drawn three of their last four Serie A matches (1P), reaching 12 draws in this championship; the Sardinians have not managed 13 X marks in a single season in the competition since 2011/12 (15th place finish in that case).

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Inter, 1st position with 89 points and a positive goal difference of +62
Frosinone, 16th position with 32 points and a negative goal difference of -20

Frosinone crushed and humiliated. Inter won the Serie A Week 36 game against Frosinone on Friday 10 May 2024 at the Benito Stirpe Stadium in Frosinone, Italy.  Inter recovered after losing last week against Sassuolo.  Frosinone remains just two points ahead of the relegation zone, awaiting the matches of their direct competitors. Di Francesco’s team will play for salvation in the last two matches against Monza and Udinese.

It was a balanced first half, played by both teams at a good pace, but with Inter in the lead thanks to Frattesi’s goal. In the second half Frosinone tried several times, but it was always Inzaghi’s team that found the goal. In the 60th minute, Barella catches Frattesi in the area, who serves Arnautovic in the center, with the former Bologna player only having to finish with his right foot. In the 77th minute Buchanan’s goal arrives, after a coast-to-coast from the midfield line to the penalty area and a curling shot with the right. Three minutes pass and Lautaro finds the net again, picking up a ball in the middle of the area and converting it with his left foot. In the final, personal joy also arrives for Thuram, who surpasses Cerofolini.

Inter lost their last championship match, 0-1 against Sassuolo; the only time Inter lost more than one match in a row with the Scudetto already won was in 1953 (three consecutive defeats in that case) – in general, in the era of three points for a win, before this season, the Nerazzurri collected eight successes, one draw and two defeats as champions.

Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer kept a clean sheet.  Happy dreams.

Image

Inter took the lead in the 19th minute. Davide Frattesi defeated Frosinone goalkeeper Michele Cerofolini from the center to the bottom right corner.

Inter are securing the victory in the 60th minute. Marko Arnautović scored with a right footed shot to the center. The assist is by Davide Frattesi.

Chaos for Frosinone. Inter scored a treble in the 77th minute. Tajon Buchanan scored with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Stefano Sensi.  Buchanan scored his first goal for Inter. Good way to celebrate.

Lautaro Martínez sealed the victory in the 80th minute with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner.

Frosinone are just collapsing! Inter crushed Frosinone scoring a 5th goal in the 84th minute. Marcus Thuram scored with a left footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Lautaro Martínez

✅   Stats before the game: Frosinone have always lost in five matches against Inter in Serie A: among the teams against which they have not won a single point in the competition, the Ciociari have only met Roma more times (six). Frosinone have met the team first in the table at the start of the day in Serie A only three times: the giallobù have not scored a single goal in these three matches (the last against Inter in November 2023) and have always lost, conceding a total of seven goals. Frosinone have kept a clean sheet in their last three Serie A matches, as many times as in the previous 32 played in this championship – among the teams that have collected at least three clean sheets in a row, the last to be relegated was Genoa in 2022 ( four games with a clean sheet). Frosinone have won 78% of their points at home in this Serie A championship (25 out of 32), a percentage second only to that of Granada (86%, 18/21) in the top five European leagues this season.

👉 Lineup FROSINONE (3-5-2): Cerofolini; Lirola, Okoli, Bonifazi; Zortea, Brescianini, Mazzitelli, Reinier, Valeri; Soulé, Cheddira.

👉 Lineup INTER (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, De Vrij, Augusto; Darmian, Frattesi, Asllani, Barella, Dimarco; Arnautovic, Thuram.
