Napoli had a bad season and failed to defend their title.  Napoli ended the last game of the season against Lecce with a goalless draw on Sunday 26 May 2024 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, Italy. Napoli have won five of their last seven league matches against Lecce (1D, 1L), scoring 19 goals in the set, an average of 2.7 per match.  It’s just a season to forget and archived.  Napoli went down from winning the Scudetto last season to the 10th position this season. AC Milan kept the 2nd position after ending the Serie A Week 38 game with a draw against Salernitana on Saturday 25 May 2024 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy. Salernitana are already relegated to the Serie B. The match’s highlights included the farewell of Coach Stefano Pioli and French forward Olivier Giroud, Milan who stops at 99 goals and does not reach triple figures. Simon Kjaer also played his last game with the Rossoneri, Antonio Mirante, and Mattia Caldaraare all departing.

Salernitana ruined the party for Pioli and Giroud finding an equalizer in the final minutes with goals from Sambia and Simy, after the Devil had taken the lead 3-1 thanks to goals of Leao, Giruoud, and Calabria.

AC Milan took the lead in the 22nd minute. Rafael Leão defeated Salernitana goalkeeper from very close range with a right-footed shot to the center.

Salernitana equalized in the 89th minute with a brace by Simy with a left footed shot to the bottom left corner.

After losing the first two Serie A matches against Monza, Juventus found success in the most recent match played in the championship against the Brianza, 2-1 in the first leg of the current tournament, last December 1st ( goals by Adrien Rabiot and Federico Gatti for the Bianconeri, by Valentín Carboni for Monza). Genoa won the Serie A Week 38 game defeating Bologna on Friday 24 May 2024 at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genoa, Italy.  Rossoblù derby at the Ferraris with Genoa and Bologna finished their respective seasons in the best possible way, positive for both. Gilardino’s men have in fact achieved a quiet salvation as newly promoted players, while Motta’s men have instead achieved a sensational objective with qualification for the next Champions League.

Gilardino’s first season as Serie A coach ends with Ferraris’ applause, leading his team to 49 points. Smiles also for Thiago Motta who, despite today’s defeat, was celebrated and greeted warmly by his players in the center of the pitch before his final farewell.

Genoa ends their season with an exclamation point, the match against Bologna ends 2-0 for Gilardino’s men thanks to goals from Malinovskyi in the 13th minute and Vitinha in the 59th minute. In the second half the hosts almost completely left the initiative to their opponents, who created a couple of chances with Fabbian, and struck them at the first defensive indecision, effectively ending the match. In the end Gudmundsson tries a couple of times but fails to score the 15th goal of his amazing championship.

Genoa took the lead in the 13th minute. Ruslan Malinovskyi defeated Bologna goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Aarón Martín.

✅   Stats before the game: Genoa have remained unbeaten in eight of the last nine matches against Bologna in Serie A (W4, D4), after having achieved just one success in the previous nine (D3, D5). After the 1-1 draw in the first leg last January 5, Genoa and Bologna could draw both matches in a single Serie A season for the first time since 1957/58. Genoa have won their last two matches at the Ferraris in the league (against Cagliari and Sassuolo), the last time they achieved multiple home successes in a row in Serie A dates back to the period between January and February 2021 (three, the first of such as against Bologna). A crackling second forty-five minutes: Cagliari starts again strongly and manages to equalize in the 64th minute with captain Deiola, who did well to get in on Prati’s cross and put past Terracciano. In the 85th minute, Cagliari also took the lead with 2003 Mutandwa, who, served by Nandez, took center stage and unleashed a powerful right-footed shot to the far post to score his first goal in Serie A. But Cagliari’s joy lasted only four minutes, as in the 89th minute Nico Gonzalez equalized with an assist from Biraghi. After ten minutes of injury time, the insult for Cagliari: Beltran anticipates Di Pardo and is brought down. ✅ Stats before the game: Fiorentina have remained unbeaten in their last six matches against Cagliari in Serie A (3W, 3D), conceding just one goal in the period (João Pedro’s goal in the 1-1 draw on 23 January 2022) – the last time that Fiorentina Viola have recorded the most matches in a row without defeat against the Sardinians in the tournament dating back to the period April 2009-November 2012: eight (5W, 3N). After the success of the first leg (3-0 last October 2), Fiorentina could win both seasonal matches against Cagliari in Serie A for the first time since 2016/17 with Paulo Sousa on the bench (5-3 away and 1-0 at home in that case). Furthermore, if they managed to get the three points against Fiorentina, Cagliari would close this Serie A championship with 39 points, at least two more than those achieved in the previous two seasons in the top flight (30 in 2021/22 and 37 in 2020/21).
