Empoli, 14th position with 39 points and a negative goal difference of -13

Empoli delighted their fans by winning the Serie A Week 36 game against Juventus on Monday 22 May 2023 at the Carlo Castellani Stadium in Empoli, Italy. Definitely, a masterpiece evening for Empoli who spread in the second half thanks to Francesco Caputo’s brace and Roberto Piccoli’s goal. Federico Chiesa goal is not enough for the bianconeri, not very incisive in attack and with serious defensive gaps.

Empoli already safe and able to collect seven points in the last three outings. Juventus are returning from three consecutive victories in the league and the recent penalty, eager to keep in the running for the Champions League.   A tough slap for Juventus because after the game and finding out the FIGC verdict of -10 points, they went down from the 2nd (69 points) to the 7th position with 59 points.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
AS Roma, 7th position with 59 points and a  positive goal difference of +12
Salernitana, 15th position with 38 points and a negative goal difference of -13

AS Roma with a sprint race ended the Serie A Week 36 game against Salernitana with a draw on Monday 22 May 2023 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy. After snatching the pass for the Europa League final, Mourinho’s Roma are preparing for Monday evening in Serie A. 3 points in 5 games for the Giallorossi who haven’t found victory in the league since April 16 against Udinese. Three points this evening would be essential to be able to hook up and overcome Atalanta, currently in the Conference League area at +2.

The last games are therefore fundamental for Roma. Next Saturday the match at the Franchi for Mourinho’s team, to then host Spezia after the Europa League final on May 31st. Salernitana will challenge Udinese first and then Cremonese, already certain of relegation to Serie B. The sentence of the FIGC Federal Court of Appeal is official: ten penalty points for Juventus who are now at 59 points, -1 from Roma. With this equal, the Giallorossi are therefore sixth at -1 from Atalanta, and -4 from Milan fourth in the standings.

Salernitana opened the score in the 12th minute. Antonio Candreva defeated AS Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio with a right-footed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Lassana Coulibaly.

Roma equalized in the 47th minute. Forward Stephan El Shaarawy defeated Salernitana goalkeeper GUillermo Ochoa with a left footed shot to the bottom right corner.

Salernitana took the lead again in the 54th minute. Boulaye Dia scored from very close range with a left footed shot to the center. The assist is by Krzysztof Piatek.

Roma equalized again in the 84th minute. Nemanja Matić scored with a right footed shot to the center following a corner conceded by Tonny Vilhena.

Stats before the game: Salernitana, at 38 points, is already arguably safe. Sousa’s team celebrated this round following the knockout of Verona. With a victory he could overcome Empoli and move into 14th position.

Italian Soccer Serie A

👉    Hello, my friends. Here are the 2022-2023 Italian Serie A Week 36 RESULTS / Thirty-fifth Round on Friday 19, Saturday 20, Sunday 21, and Monday 22 May 2023

A sour news for Juventus after the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) court issued Juventus a new ruling on Monday 22 May were docked 10 points for the current Serie A season in a case centered on the club’s transfer dealings. After a 4-1 defeat at Empoli on Monday, leaving Juve with two matches to play this season, the deduction sees Juventus going down from second to seventh place in the top-flight standings on 59 points. On the other hand, non-guilty verdicts for seven ex-Juventus executives, including Czech former vice-chairman and midfield player Pavel Nedved.

✅   Here is the situation: 👉🏆🇮🇹      Napoli won the 2022-23 Serie A Scudetto on Thursday 4 May 2023 after the 1-1 draw with Udinese.

Verdict – Relegation.  After 11 seasons in Serie A, Sampdoria is arithmetically relegated to Serie B 2023-24 after losing the Serie A Week 34 against Udinese.

Cremonese will return to Serie B next season after 17th-placed Spezia drew at Lecce on Sunday, sealing their relegation with two games remaining in the season. Spezia reached 31 points. Mathematically speaking, Cremonese in the 19th place with 24 points, can no longer leapfrog them for safety.

Verdict – Promotion:  Two Serie B teams are already promoted to the Serie A 2023-24: Frosinone and Genoa.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Lazio, 4th position with 65 points and a  positive goal difference of +26
Udinese, 12th position with 46 points and a positive goal difference of +2

Lazio win the Serie A Week 36 game on Sunday 21 May 2023 at the Dacia Arena in Udine, Italy. The victory help Lazio to remain in the top 4 positions. After a first half with few emotions, in the second half the biancocelesti immediately went close to scoring with Immobile but Silvestri saved the result. Ciro Immobile made no mistake a few minutes later when he scored the penalty awarded by Referee Pairetto for a foul by Masina. Udinese’s reaction is too weak, which never really scares Provedel, three very important points for Maurizio Sarri’s men. Lazio are the only big names to win against Udinese, waiting for Juventus to face the Friulians on the final day

Udinese have won just one of their last 16 Serie A matches against Lazio (D5 L10) and in particular they have drawn all three most recently: these two teams have never recorded more consecutive draws in the competition.

Lazio took the lead in the 61st minute. Forward Ciro Immobile converted a penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The penalty is conceded by Adam Masina.

✅    Stats before the game:  After three consecutive defeats, Lazio have remained unbeaten in all of their most recent nine away matches against Udinese in Serie A (W6, D3): the last time the Biancocelesti played more away matches in a row against the Friulians without losing in top division was between 1989 and 2001 (10). Udinese have failed to find a goal in 11 of their last 16 Serie A matches against Lazio: against no other opponent they have so many games without goals scored in the competition from 2015 onwards. Lazio have lost their last two league away games, after having recorded just two defeats in the previous 18 (W11, D5); the last time the biancocelesti found multiple consecutive away knockouts in Serie A was in May 2021, with Simone Inzaghi on the bench. Udinese are unbeaten in eight consecutive home matches in Serie A (W3 D5) and the last time they played multiple home games in a row without losing in a single season was in 2012/13 (18). Lazio can become the fourth team in the three points for a win era to record at least 20 seasonal clean sheets in Serie A, after Roma (in 2003/04 and 2013/14), Milan (in 2010/11) and Juventus (in 2011/12, in 2013/14, in 2015/16 and in 2017/18, while in the current tournament it is 19); in the entire history of the competition, only two teams have crossed this milestone without finishing the tournament in the top two positions in the standings: Modena 1947/48 (5th) and Juventus 1965/66 (5th).

👉 Lineup Udinese (3-5-1-1): Silvestri; Perez, Bijol, Masina; Pereyra, Arslan, Walace, Lovric, Udogie; Samardzic; Beto.

👉 Lineup  Lazio (4-3-3): Provedel; Lazzari, Casale, Romagnoli, Hysaj; Milinkovic Savic, Vecino, Luis Alberto; Felipe Anderson, Immobile, Zaccagni.
