Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Inter, 3rd position with 66 points and a positive goal difference of +29
Napoli, 1st position with 83 points and a positive goal difference of +45

Napoli continue celebrating the Scudetto by winning the Serie A Week 36 game defeating Inter on Sunday 21 May 2023 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, Italy. Napoli find success against 19 different opponents in the course of a single season for the first time in their history in Serie A (there are currently 18, as in 2015/16 and 2018 /19). Napoli returns to victory after the defeat at Monza and climbs to 86 points in the standings. Inter, on the other hand, suffer defeat after eight consecutive wins in all competitions and now risk being overtaken into third place by Lazio, on the pitch tonight at the Dacia Arena against Udinese. The Nerazzurri are two points ahead of fifth-placed Milan, with as many matches remaining in the championship.

Everything happens at Maradona in the last 23 minutes of the game plus recovery. In the 41st minute, Napoli found themselves in numerical superiority, thanks to the expulsion remedied for a second yellow card by Roberto Gagliardini. In the second half, the hosts immediately looked for the opening goal through Di Lorenzo and Kvaratskhelia, but this only arrived in the 67th minute, when Zielinski made a hole for Anguissa, who turned the goal around for 1-0. Inter found an unexpected draw with Romelu Lukaku, who took advantage of Dimarco’s low cross and pushed the ball into goal to make it 1-1. In the 85th minute, however, Di Lorenzo brought his team forward with a splendid left-footed shot from 20 metres. In full stoppage time, in the 94th minute, there was also room for Gaetano’s first goal in Serie A, who fixed the result at 3-1 on the counterattack.

Napoli took the lead in the 67th minute. André-Frank Zambo Anguissa defeated Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Piotr Zielinski.

Inter equalized in the 82nd minute. Forward Romelu Lukaku defeated Napoli goalkeeper from very close range with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Federico Dimarco.

Napoli took the lead again in the 86th minute. Captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo scored with a left-footed shot from to the top left corner. The assist is by André-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

Napoli sealed the victory in the 95th minute with the goal by Gianluca Gaetano with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Giovanni Simeone.

👉 Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Spezia, 17th position with 30 points and a positive goal difference of +26
Lecce, 16th position with 32 points and a negative goal difference of -13

Lecce and Spezia ended the Serie A Week 36 game with a goalless draw on Sunday 21 May 2023 at the Via Del Mare Stadium in Lecce, Italy. This is a point of fundamental importance also for Spezia, which goes to +1 on Hellas Verona just two days from the end of the championship. With this draw, Lecce brings the advantage over Verona third from last to 3 points, taking a fairly significant step in the race towards salvation. The teams had an overall very aggressive attitude and the goal chances in fact came with a dropper, even if the guests had a more proactive attitude. The Ligurians had the most sensational opportunity to take the lead in full stoppage time, with a double shot stopped by the Lecce defence.

Lecce’s 600th match in their Serie A history – the Giallorossi will be the second Apulian side to cross this milestone in the tournament, after Bari (1010).

Spezia are returning from the prestigious internal success against Milan, they have the possibility of leaving only Hellas Verona in third from bottom place. Lecce joined in the last round in full recovery by Lazio, have only obtained one point in the last three days, so much so that they are only two points above the duo formed by today’s opponents and Verona.

In the next round, Lecce will play on the Monza ground, while Spezia will host Torino on their pitch.

✅  Stats before the game:  Great balance in the 17 matches between Lecce and Spezia between Serie A, Serie B and the Italian Cup: five wins each and seven draws, including the first leg match of this championship, which finished 0-0 on 8 January. The last match between Lecce and Spezia at the Apulian home between Serie A, Serie B and Coppa Italia dates back to 11 May 2019: the Giallorossi won that match 2-1 in the cadet championship, thanks to goals from Jacopo Petriccione and Andrea La Mantia. In the last 12 days, Lecce (five) and Spezia (11, on a par with Empoli) are two of the four teams to have earned the fewest points in Serie A – among them Sampdoria (with seven). After the last-round draw against Lazio, Lecce could avoid defeat for two games in a row in Serie A for the first time since last February (series of three, with two wins interspersed with a draw). After the success against Milan, Spezia could register two wins in a row in Serie A for the first time since January 2022 (three in that case, with Thiago Motta as coach).

👉  Lineup Lecce: Falcone, Baschirotto, Colombo, Di Francesco, Gonzalez, Gendrey, Gallo, Strefezza ©, Oudin, Blin, Umtiti.

👉  Lineup Spezia: Dragowski, Ampadu, Bourabia, Ekdal, Gyasi ©, Reca, Shomurodov, Nzola, Esposito, Nikolaou, Wisniewski.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game
Bologna, 11th  position with 47 points and a negative goal difference of -1
Cremonese, 19th position with 24 points and a negative goal difference of -30

Bologna are already saved while Cremonese lost the Serie A Week 36 game on Saturday 20 May 2023 at the Giovanni Zini Stadium in Cremona, Italy. Bologna returns to victory after six games and does it in a bombastic way at the Zini. After the 3-0 in the first half, Motta’s men find two more goals with Orsolini and Sansone. For Cremonese, the honor goal is scored by Daniel Ciofani. However, there is a lack of mathematics to condemn Cremonese but, to stay in Serie A, Ballardini’s men need six points in the next two games and three consecutive missteps for Verona and Spezia, something that goes beyond the concept of a sporting miracle. Bologna, on the other hand, with these three points reaches 50 and climbs to ninth place with two lengths of delay from Monza in eighth, waiting for the other matches of the day.

In the next round, Cremonese will play in Rome against Lazio, while Bologna will host Napoli at Dall’Ara.

✅   Stats before the game: After losing their first two matches in Serie A against Bologna (in 1929/30), Cremonese remained unbeaten in the next three matches in the top division between 1989/90 and the first leg (W1, D2). Davide Ballardini’s first match at the helm of Cremonese in Serie A dates back to the first leg match against Bologna on 23 January (1-1); since his arrival, the Grigiorossi have earned 17 points in 17 games and would be out of the relegation zone. 46% of Cremonese’s points in this Serie A season have come from April (11/24), a record percentage. During the period, the Grigiorossi earned more points (11 in eight matches) than Bologna (10) in the league. After the success against Spezia in the last home match, Cremonese could obtain two wins in a row at Zini in Serie A for the first time since the period between November-December 1995 (against Padova and Bari in that case, with Luigi Simoni as coach). Bologna went on a run of six consecutive matches without a win (D4 L2) in the league for the first time since the April-May 2021 period (seven in that case). The rossoblù could also draw three games in a row in Serie A for the first time since January 2021 (five on that occasion).

AC Milan won the Serie A Week 36 game crushing Sampdoria on Saturday 20 May 2023 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy. Sampdoria already relegated to the Serie B. The curtain falls at the San Siro Stadium with a convincing victory for the Rossoneri humiliating Sampdoria. The victory is an added boost for the moral redemption to leave behind the elimination from the Champions League and does so by winning 5-1. Leao started the party in the 9th minute, a goal which is answered in the 20th minute by the signature of a timeless Fabio Quagliarella who, at the time of his substitution in the second half, will be able to enjoy a general ovation from the entire Meazza audience. However, a draw that was short-lived, and from the 23rd minute Milan would dominate. Olivier Giroud put the Rossoneri back in front, to then sign a brace in the 29th minute converting the penalty. In the 63rd minute with Diaz, who opens the plate and beats Ravaglia. In the 68th minute, a hat-trick by Giroud who realizes an inviting tip from Leao after a physical dispute with Nuytinck. A record for Milan scoring 5+ goals in San Siro only for the second time in a Serie A match under Coach Stefano Pioli: on 18/7/2020, against Bologna (also 5-1 in that case).

Pioli and Stankovic’s men who will be engaged on the 37th day respectively away, guests of Allegri’s Juventus for an electrifying Champions League clash, and at home against Mister Dionisi’s Sassuolo.

✅  Stats before the game: Milan have won their last three matches against Sampdoria in the league, the Rossoneri haven’t achieved more consecutive wins against the Blucerchiati in Serie A since the period between 1999 and 2005 (five in that case).  AC Milan have not won any of their last three matches against teams that occupied the bottom three positions of the Serie A table at the start of the day (D2, L1), after instead having achieved eight wins in the previous nine matches of this type (D1). After a three-game winning streak last February, Milan have won just three of their next 11 Serie A matches (D5 L3); from the beginning of March, in fact, the Rossoneri would occupy 12th position in the championship standings (14 points, equal to Salernitana). Sampdoria have obtained 18 points so far in this championship and for the first time in their history they will end a Serie A season with less than 28 points (considering always three points for a win). Sampdoria are the team that has earned the least away points this season in Serie A (nine in 17 matches); moreover, no team has conceded more goals than the Blucerchiati away from home (36, equal to Sassuolo).

👉 Lineup AC MILAN (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori, Hernández; Tonali, Krunić; Messias, Díaz, Leão; Giroud.

👉 Lineup SAMPDORIA (4-4-2): Ravaglia; Zanoli, Günter, Nuytinck, Augello; Đuričić, Winks, Rincón, Léris; Gabbiadini, Quagliarella.
