What a fantastic debut for Germany as they dominated Curaçao in their opening match of Group E during the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Sunday, June 14, 2026. The game was an exciting spectacle at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. It was practically a one-sided affair! On the other hand, Curaçao, despite the loss, celebrated its first-ever goal in the World Cup. Fans showed their support for the team even in defeat.  This is a significant milestone as Curaçao is the smallest nation to qualify for a World Cup. Group E also features Ecuador and Côte d'Ivoire.

The Germans claimed their first three points of the tournament with an impressive 7-1 victory. Goals came from Havertz (who scored a remarkable brace), Nmecha, Musiala, Brown, Schlotterbeck, and Undav. There was a wave of excitement for the Caribbean team's historic first goal, scored by Comenencia.

Undoubtedly, Germany, a four-time champion, sent a powerful message to the competition as they are among the favorites to win the title. In summary, Germany completely controlled the match against Curaçao, who are making their historic debut in the World Cup.

Germany will next face the Ivory Coast on Saturday, June 20, 2026, while Curaçao will play Ecuador on Saturday too.

⚽️  In the 6th minute, Felix Nmecha scores! The Germans executed a fantastic play on the left side. Musiala faced a block, but the ball bounced back to the edge of the area. He connected with Wirtz and then unleashed a powerful right-footed shot towards the far post, which Room was unable to stop.

⚽️ In the 21st minute, Curacao, the Caribbean national team, scored their first-ever goal in a World Cup!!! Livano Comenencia confidently strikes with his left foot, sending the ball past goalkeeper Neuer into the corner! The celebration is electric, with all the players joyfully piling on top of each other next to the corner flag. For the record, Livano Comenencia previously played in the Juventus Next Gen team from 2023 to 2025.

⚽️ In the 38th minute, Schlotterbeck netted his first international goal. Bang! A fantastic cutback from Brown's corner, marking his 28th appearance. Brown delivers the corner from the right, and Schlotterbeck - who has posed a threat from set-pieces throughout the match - easily gets to the front post and heads it to the left of Room.

⚽️ In the 45+5 minute, Kai Havertz, the Arsenal forward, netted a penalty. He executed the shot flawlessly from 11 meters, tricking the Curaçao goalkeeper by going the other way.

⚽️ In the 47th minute, a goal was scored by Jamal Musiala. Kimmich made a fantastic pass into the right side of the box, and Musiala skillfully directed it into the bottom-left corner, getting it past Room.

⚽️ In the 68th minute, Nathaniel Brown scores! Undav's brilliant little flick sets up Brown, who strikes it home! It was very close to being offside, but he stays on, marking his first international goal as a full-back. Germany is dominating Curacao.

 

🇩🇪 Germany 6 - 1 Curacao 🇨🇼

⚽️ Deniz Undav scored in the 78th minute. Raum passed to Havertz on the left: the low cross reached Kimmich, who opted not to shoot and instead laid it off for the Stuttgart striker. Chong attempted to clear it off the goal line but was unsuccessful.

⚽️ In the 88th minute, Germany secured their victory. Havertz scored his second goal of the match, skillfully connecting with Undav's through ball and delicately lifting it over Room. It's truly a fantastic goal, but you can't help but sympathize with Curacao. Goretzka steals the ball and Undav sets up Kai for the finish!
