AS Roma win the Europa League Round 32, Second Leg game defeating Braga on Thursday 25 February 2021 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy.   Roma advance to the Europa League Round of 16 with an aggregate result of 5-1.

AS Roma opening the score in the 23rd minute. Forward Edin Dzeko defeating Braga goalkeeper with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner.

Roma increasing the score for the 2-0 in the 74th minute.

  • Stats before the game:  Roma have won 4 of their last  6 home games against Portuguese sides (1N, 1P), the last of which was a 2-1 win against Porto in February 2019.  Sporting Braga have won 1 of 4 away matches against Italian sides (1N, 2P), beating Parma 1-0 in the 2006-07 UEFA Cup round of 32. An 18-year-old Diego Costa scored the winning goal.  Roma have passed the round on 18 of the previous 20 occasions in which they have won the first leg in a double knockout match of a European competition (excluding the preliminaries): the only exceptions of the run against Manchester United in the quarter-finals in 2006/07 and in the round of 16 against Porto in 2018/19, again in the Champions League.  Braga made it through the round in a double Europa League match in the knockout stage after losing the first leg only once on their last five occasions: against Fenerbahçe in the 2015/16 round of 16.   Roma’s only defeat in their last 18 home games in European competition was against Real Madrid in November 2018 (13W, 4N) – the Giallorossi have won all six knockout stages matches during this series.  Roma have scored at least three goals in each of their last two Europa League matches at the Olimpico: the Giallorossi could record three home games in a row in a European competition with at least three goals to their credit for the first time since October 2018 (against Liverpool , Viktoria Plzen and CSKA Moscow in the Champions League). Sporting Braga have lost all of their last four away matches in the knockout stages of the Europa League, failing to score in three of those games.   Since his first appearance for Roma in the Europa League in 2016, Edin Dzeko has scored 13 of his team’s 53 goals, followed by own goals in the club’s league table this period (five).

👉 Stats: First Leg, Crvena zvezda 2 – 2 AC Milan

Mission accomplished!  AC Milan advance to  the Europa League Round of 16.   Milan ended with a draw against Crvena Zvezda in the Round of 32, Second Leg game on Thursday 25 February 2021 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy.   AC Milan will then concentrate on the Serie A Week 24 against AS Roma to battle again for the leadership.

AC Milan opening the score in the 9th minute. Referee Jesus Gil Manzano giving a penalty to Milan conceded by Marko Gobeljic after a handball. The penalty is converted by Franck Kessié defeating Crvena Zvezda goalkeeper with a right footed shot in the bottom right corner.

Oh gosh…. Crvena Zvezda equalizing for the 1-1 in the 24th minute with the goal by El Fardou Mohamed Ben Nabouhane.

  • ✅   Stats before the game:  AC Milan have always scored in 5 previous games against Red Star, keeping a clean sheet only once, at home in August 2006.  Milan hosted the Red Star twice, drawing 1-1 in the 1988/89 European Cup and winning 1-0 in the 2006/07 Champions League qualifiers, thanks to a goal from Filippo Inzaghi.  The Red Star have only won one of 12 European away matches against Italian sides (3N, 8P), a 2-0 win over Chievo in the first round of the UEFA Cup in October 2002.  Milan have lost three of their last seven home games between the Europa League and the UEFA Cup (4W), as many times as they have in their first 38 home games in these competitions.  AC Milan’s last home draw in European competition dates back to October 2017 (0-0 against AEK Athens) – seven wins and three defeats for the Rossoneri since then.   The Red Star have only scored three times in their seven Europa League away games, failing to score in five of their last six.  AC Milan have been eliminated in each of their last seven home and away matches in major European competitions when they failed to win the first leg, managing to make it through the last time in the 2006/07 Champions League against Manchester United.
The seven goals scored by Milan at home in this Europa League are signed by six different scorers – the only AC Milan to score two goals in the set is Brahim Díaz, author of the first (v Slavia Prague) and the last (v Celtic ).  Still running dry after three appearances in this Europa League, Zlatan Ibrahimovic could become the oldest scorer in the history of AC Milan between the European Cup / Champions League and UEFA Cup / Europa League at the age of 39 years and 118 days.
