Mission accomplished!  AC Milan advance to  the Europa League Round of 16.   Milan ended with a draw against Crvena Zvezda in the Round of 32, Second Leg game on Thursday 25 February 2021 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy.   AC Milan will then concentrate on the Serie A Week 24 against AS Roma to battle again for the leadership.

AC Milan opening the score in the 9th minute. Referee Jesus Gil Manzano giving a penalty to Milan conceded by Marko Gobeljic after a handball. The penalty is converted by Franck Kessié defeating Crvena Zvezda goalkeeper with a right footed shot in the bottom right corner.

Oh gosh…. Crvena Zvezda equalizing for the 1-1 in the 24th minute with the goal by El Fardou Mohamed Ben Nabouhane.

  •   Stats before the game:  AC Milan have always scored in 5 previous games against Red Star, keeping a clean sheet only once, at home in August 2006.  Milan hosted the Red Star twice, drawing 1-1 in the 1988/89 European Cup and winning 1-0 in the 2006/07 Champions League qualifiers, thanks to a goal from Filippo Inzaghi.  The Red Star have only won one of 12 European away matches against Italian sides (3N, 8P), a 2-0 win over Chievo in the first round of the UEFA Cup in October 2002.  Milan have lost three of their last seven home games between the Europa League and the UEFA Cup (4W), as many times as they have in their first 38 home games in these competitions.  AC Milan’s last home draw in European competition dates back to October 2017 (0-0 against AEK Athens) – seven wins and three defeats for the Rossoneri since then.   The Red Star have only scored three times in their seven Europa League away games, failing to score in five of their last six.  AC Milan have been eliminated in each of their last seven home and away matches in major European competitions when they failed to win the first leg, managing to make it through the last time in the 2006/07 Champions League against Manchester United.
The seven goals scored by Milan at home in this Europa League are signed by six different scorers – the only AC Milan to score two goals in the set is Brahim Díaz, author of the first (v Slavia Prague) and the last (v Celtic ).  Still running dry after three appearances in this Europa League, Zlatan Ibrahimovic could become the oldest scorer in the history of AC Milan between the European Cup / Champions League and UEFA Cup / Europa League at the age of 39 years and 118 days.
