AS Roma opening the score in the 23rd minute. Forward Edin Dzeko defeating Braga goalkeeper with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner.

Roma increasing the score for the 2-0 in the 74th minute.

  • Stats before the game:  Roma have won 4 of their last  6 home games against Portuguese sides (1N, 1P), the last of which was a 2-1 win against Porto in February 2019.  Sporting Braga have won 1 of 4 away matches against Italian sides (1N, 2P), beating Parma 1-0 in the 2006-07 UEFA Cup round of 32. An 18-year-old Diego Costa scored the winning goal.  Roma have passed the round on 18 of the previous 20 occasions in which they have won the first leg in a double knockout match of a European competition (excluding the preliminaries): the only exceptions of the run against Manchester United in the quarter-finals in 2006/07 and in the round of 16 against Porto in 2018/19, again in the Champions League.  Braga made it through the round in a double Europa League match in the knockout stage after losing the first leg only once on their last five occasions: against Fenerbahçe in the 2015/16 round of 16.   Roma’s only defeat in their last 18 home games in European competition was against Real Madrid in November 2018 (13W, 4N) – the Giallorossi have won all six knockout stages matches during this series.  Roma have scored at least three goals in each of their last two Europa League matches at the Olimpico: the Giallorossi could record three home games in a row in a European competition with at least three goals to their credit for the first time since October 2018 (against Liverpool , Viktoria Plzen and CSKA Moscow in the Champions League). Sporting Braga have lost all of their last four away matches in the knockout stages of the Europa League, failing to score in three of those games.   Since his first appearance for Roma in the Europa League in 2016, Edin Dzeko has scored 13 of his team’s 53 goals, followed by own goals in the club’s league table this period (five).
