Daring final at the Unipol Domus, with the home team managing to overturn the deficit they had developed in the first half, only to be recovered and overtaken in injury time by Fiorentina. A crackling second forty-five minutes: Cagliari starts again strongly and manages to equalize in the 64th minute with captain Deiola, who did well to get in on Prati’s cross and put past Terracciano. In the 85th minute, Cagliari also took the lead with 2003 Mutandwa, who, served by Nandez, took center stage and unleashed a powerful right-footed shot to the far post to score his first goal in Serie A. But Cagliari’s joy lasted only four minutes, as in the 89th minute Nico Gonzalez equalized with an assist from Biraghi. After ten minutes of injury time, the insult for Cagliari: Beltran anticipates Di Pardo and is brought down. After a check on the monitor Prontera concedes the penalty kick: Arthur makes no mistake and scores the goal to make it 2-3.

✅ Stats before the game: Fiorentina have remained unbeaten in their last six matches against Cagliari in Serie A (3W, 3D), conceding just one goal in the period (João Pedro’s goal in the 1-1 draw on 23 January 2022) – the last time that Fiorentina Viola have recorded the most matches in a row without defeat against the Sardinians in the tournament dating back to the period April 2009-November 2012: eight (5W, 3N). Furthermore, if they managed to get the three points against Fiorentina, Cagliari would close this Serie A championship with 39 points, at least two more than those achieved in the previous two seasons in the top flight (30 in 2021/22 and 37 in 2020/21).

Juventus and Bologna ended the Serie A Week 37 with a draw on Monday 20 May 2024 at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium in Bologna, Italy. What a match! Bologna dominated in the first half against a completely absent Juventus. Riccardo Calafiori broke the deadlock already in the 2nd minute following a corner, an almost immediate double with Castro’s header which scored from Ndoye’s cross.

In the second half, Calafiori crowned the splendid performance with his personal brace which made it 3-0. The Bianconeri turned the lights back on in the final: Chiesa took advantage of an error by Lucumì to reopen the match, then Milik’s free kick further shortened the result. Not even time to put the ball back in midfield and Yildiz made it 3-3 with a shot from the edge.

On the one hand, a Bologna who, fresh from arithmetic and historic qualification in the Champions League, are ready to celebrate an extraordinary achievement with their fans at the peak of a spectacular season; on the other, Juventus who, despite their victory in the Italian Cup, are experiencing a particularly delicate moment following Allegri’s dismissal

✅ Stats before the game: After the 1-1 draw in the first leg last August 27, Bologna and Juventus could draw both seasonal matches in Serie A for the first time since 2011/12 (two 1-1s in that case). Juventus has remained unbeaten in 41 of the last 42 matches against Bologna in Serie A (29W, 12D), the last victory of the rossoblù against the bianconeri in the top championship dates back to 26 February 2011, thanks to Marco Di Vaio’s brace in the Olimpico Grande Torino with Alberto Malesani at the helm.

Inter won the 2023-2024 Italy’s Champions winning the Scudetto last week after defeating AC Milan in the Milan Derby.   Inter’s 20th Italian league title and earn the Nerazzurri a second star on their shirts.  The historic moment for Inter was on Sunday with the Official Award Ceremony to receive the Scudetto after the draw against Lazio which ended with a 1-1 draw.

AS Roma survived the pressure and defeated Genoa.  Three golden points take Roma to the Europa League qualification and still leave a small hope for the Champions League, but a lot will depend on the fate of Atalanta.  Mathematically speaking, with this result, Roma can no longer be reached by Lazio, by virtue of the direct matches in their favor.   Roma beat Genoa 1-0 thanks to the goal by Romelu Lukaku.

The bad news is for AC Milan beaten by Torino with a 3-1.  Yet, despite the defeat, Milan remain in the 2nd position.  The good news is for Torino overtaking Napoli, who are now in tenth place in the table. With this victory, Torino climbed to ninth place and keeps alive the hope of qualifying for the next Conference League.
