Como triumphed in their Serie A Week 6 match against Hellas Verona on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium in Como, Italy. This marks Como’s second 3-2 victory in just five days, bringing their total points to eight in the standings. While there’s still a long way to go, they appear to be on track for a comfortable escape from relegation. On the other hand, it was a tough night for Verona, who faced their third straight defeat, with this one also ending 3-2, leaving them stuck at six points from their first three matches of the season.

This game will mark Hellas Verona’s 1,100th appearance in Serie A, making them the 15th team to achieve this milestone, and the first from the Veneto region.

Patrick Cutrone delivered an outstanding performance! He has already scored two goals in his first four matches of the season with Como, just one goal away from matching his total from last Serie A season (three goals in 28 appearances with Empoli in 2021/22). Cutrone has previously found the net twice against Verona while playing for both Milan and Fiorentina, and this match presented him with the chance to become the first player to score against them with three different teams. And guess what? Cutrone did it! He scored a fantastic brace!

Como dominated the first half, but the second half began with Lazovic scoring a penalty to equalize after Cutrone’s opener. The game shifted dramatically when Suslov was sent off after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession

Looking ahead, Como will face a tough challenge against Napoli in their next match on Friday, while Verona will have a derby clash with Venezia at the Bentegodi on the same day.

In the 43rd minute, Como surged ahead as Patrick Cutrone found the back of the net with a right-footed shot to the center, getting past Hellas Verona’s goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipò. The assist came from Alieu Fadera.

Hellas Verona found the equalizer in the 53rd minute when Darko Lazovic took a penalty and successfully converted it with a right-footed shot to the middle of the goal. The penalty was given after Sergi Roberto committed a foul on Lazovic.

Como regained the lead in the 72nd minute when Patrick Cutrone found the net with a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner, assisted by Nico Paz. That’s his second goal of the match!

A thrilling moment arrived in the 83rd minute when Andrea Belotti, playing as a forward, scored his inaugural goal for Como. He struck from just a few feet away with a left-footed shot directed at the center, with Luca Mazzitelli providing the headed assist.

In the dying moments of the match, Mathis Lambourde found the net for Verona with a left-footed strike into the bottom right corner, thanks to an assist from Jackson Tchatchoua. Ultimately, Como secured a 3-2 victory.

Stats before the game

Como have drawn six of their 12 previous Serie A matches against Hellas Verona (W3 L3), including the most recent on 9 April 1989 – against none of the opponents they have faced at least 10 times in the competition have they recorded a higher percentage of draws (50%, as against Avellino and Ascoli).

Hellas Verona have won only one of their last 11 away league matches against Como (D6 L4): 2-0 on 12 June 2004; in this period they have drawn at least once against the Lariani in each of the three divisions of professional football, in 2011 in Serie C, in 1995 in Serie B and four times in Serie A, the most recent in 1989.

Como are unbeaten in their six previous home matches against Verona in Serie A (W2 D4), only against Bologna have they played more home matches in the competition without losing (10).

Hellas Verona have won only one of their last six games against newly promoted opponents in Serie A, 2-0 against Cagliari on December 23; the Gialloblù have won two draws and three defeats: among the non-relegated teams, no team has lost more times against these teams since the start of last season (three, like Genoa and Atalanta).

After starting the tournament with two wins in their first three games, Hellas Verona have collected two defeats in their two most recent Serie A matches (against Lazio and Torino); the last time the Gialloblù lost at least three games in a row in the competition dates back to November 2023, five on that occasion, two of which were against newly promoted teams.

After drawing against Bologna in their first home game of this championship, Como can close their first two home games in a Serie A season unbeaten for the first time since 1986/87 (one win and one draw on that occasion).

Como have scored six goals so far, their best result in the first five matchdays of Serie A since 1951/52 (six in that case too, the season in which they finished in 12th place); in fact, in their last 10 participations in the top division, the Lombard club had never scored more than four goals at this point in the tournament.

Roma secured a thrilling victory in Serie A Week 6 against Venezia on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy. The match saw Roma stage a comeback after falling behind in the first half when Joel Pohjanpalo put Venezia ahead. However, in the second half, Bryan Cristante leveled the score, and the young talent Niccolò Pisilli netted the winning goal.

With this win, the Giallorossi climbed to 9 points in the standings, temporarily matching Empoli. Unfortunately for Venezia, they remain at 4 points and feeling the heat as they sit in 18th place.

Venezia stunned the Olimpico crowd in the 43rd minute when Joel Pohjanpalo found the back of the net with a right-footed shot, beating Roma’s goalkeeper Mile Svilar in the bottom left corner.

In the 75th minute, Roma managed to level the score. Bryan Cristante found the back of the net with a powerful right-footed shot aimed at the top center of the goal, thanks to an assist from Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Roma made a stunning comeback in the 83rd minute, with Niccolò Pisilli scoring a header into the bottom right corner. The goal was set up by Leandro Paredes, who delivered a perfect assist following a corner given away by Ridgeciano Haps.

After a draw and three defeats, Venezia beat Genoa 2–0 in the last round of the championship and could win two in a row in Serie A for the first time since November 2021 (against Roma on that occasion and Bologna). In this case, they would find themselves winning at least two of their first six games of a single top-flight tournament for the first time since 1946/47.

Roma have drawn three of their first five games in Serie A this season and have not drawn at least four times in their first six matchdays of a single tournament in the competition since 1984/85 (five in that case with Sven-Göran Eriksson on the bench).

Torino faced a tough loss in their Serie A Week 6 match against Lazio on Sunday, September 29, 2024, held at the Olimpico di Torino Stadium in Turin, Italy. This defeat marks Torino’s first setback in the championship, which is certainly disappointing for the team. As a result, they dropped from 1st to 4th place in the standings, now sitting at 11 points. Their upcoming game will be at San Siro, where they will take on Simone Inzaghi’s Inter.

Sadly, Torino have not been alone at the top of the Serie A standings at the end of the day since the 1976/77 season, after 17 games played (29 points, considering two points for a win)

Lazio extended their lead in the 61st minute when Boulaye Dia found the back of the net with a right-footed shot aimed at the bottom right corner, thanks to an assist from Gustav Isaksen.

In the 67th minute, Torino closed the gap when Ché Adams found the net with a right-footed shot aimed at the bottom left corner, getting the better of Lazio’s goalkeeper, Ivan Provedel. Nikola Vlasic provided the assist.

Lazio are just rocking. In the 90th minute, Tijjani Noslin scored with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Matías Vecino.

In the 92nd minute, Saúl Coco found the net, bringing the final score to 2-3. He executed a right-footed shot that curled into the top left corner, thanks to a headed assist from Adam Masina.

Lazio are unbeaten in nine of their last 10 Serie A matches against Torino (W5 D4), keeping clean sheets in the two most recent ones – the only Granata win in that period dates back to 22 April 2023 (1-0 at home to the Biancocelesti).  Having said that, the Capitoline team could record three consecutive clean sheets against the Piedmontese in the tournament for the first time since the period between 1971 and 1973.

Torino have remained unbeaten in 15 of their last 16 home league games (8W, 7D), recording 11 clean sheets, the only home defeat in the period came against Lazio last February 22 (0-2). The Granata could also avoid defeat in nine consecutive home Serie A matches for the first time since December 2016 and April 2017.

Lazio have both scored and conceded in their last seven league games, only twice in their Serie A history have they recorded a longer streak of consecutive matches with both goals scored and conceded: 13 between October 1942 and January 1943 and eight between November and December 1941.

Lazio have lost both away games this season (1-2 against both Udinese and Fiorentina), the last time they lost in all of their first three away games in a Serie A season was in 1969/70.

Torino’s spellbinding journey continues, and even through the struggles, they find themselves temporarily sitting in first place! What an exhilarating match at the Bentegodi!  Torino defeated Hellas Verona with a 2-3.

Empoli defeated Cagliari with a 0-2.  It was a tough defeat because Cagliari left the pitch to a chorus of boos after their third consecutive loss, leaving Davide Nicola’s team stranded at just 2 points from 5 games. On the flip side, Empoli remains unbeaten at the start of the season, securing another vital three points, totaling 9.

The much-anticipated game between Juventus and Napoli ends in a 0-0 draw. It was a tactical battle with both teams evenly matched and only a handful of clear scoring chances. Conte’s squad came close twice with Politano (46′ and 55′) and McTominay in the 29th minute, while Koopmeiners had a chance for Juventus in the 70th minute. Additionally, Meret sustained an injury during the match.

AC Milan clinched a thrilling victory in a captivating match claiming the bragging rights to rule in the City of Milan. The Rossoneri celebrated a triumphant return in the Derby di Milano, sealing the win in dramatic fashion. In a nail-biting finish, Mattia Gabbia scored in the dying moments, capitalizing on Frattesi’s hesitation and outsmarting the unsuspecting goalkeeper Yann Sommer. After an exciting first half featuring goals from Christian Pulisic and Federico Dimarco, Gabbia’s second-half strike proved crucial for this significant win. AC Milan can now take a deep breath and aim to continue their ascent in the standings.

AC Milan won the Serie A Week 5 game on Sunday 22 September 2024 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy.  Milan clinched a thrilling victory in a captivating match claiming the bragging rights to rule in the City of Milan. The Rossoneri celebrated a triumphant return in the Derby di Milano, sealing the win in dramatic fashion. In a nail-biting finish, Mattia Gabbia scored in the dying moments, capitalizing on Frattesi’s hesitation and outsmarting the unsuspecting goalkeeper Yann Sommer. After an exciting first half featuring goals from Christian Pulisic and Federico Dimarco, Gabbia’s second-half strike proved crucial for this significant win. AC Milan can now take a deep breath and aim to continue their ascent in the standings.

Preioulsy, Inter had won the last six derbies against Milan in all competitions, with an overall score of 14-2, the Nerazzurri’s all-time record for consecutive victories against the Rossoneri. Overall, no Milanese team has ever achieved seven consecutive victories in the history of the Derby della Madonnina in all competitions – six in a row is also the record for Milan (twice, between 1911 and 1913 and between 1946 and 1948). It all changed today with AC Milan claiming the victory.

What a fantastic run by the American midfielder!  In the 10th minute, Christian Pulisic skillfully maneuvered through the Nerazzurri defense, evading at least three players before finding himself face-to-face with Sommer, ultimately giving the Rossoneri the lead.

Inter leveled the score at 1-1 in the 27th minute when Federico Dimarco found the back of the net with a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner, assisted by Lautaro Martínez.

In a thrilling finish, AC Milan reclaimed the top spot in the 89th minute when Matteo Gabbia found the net with a powerful header into the bottom right corner. Tijjani Reijnders provided the perfect cross for the assist.

Inter have won nine of their last 14 derbies against Milan in Serie A (D2 L3): in the period (since 2017/18), only against Udinese and Hellas Verona (10 against both) have the Nerazzurri achieved more successes, and only against Genoa (31) and Sampdoria (30) have they scored more goals than against the Rossoneri (29) in the top flight.

Weisz achieved a success rate of 67% with 8 wins out of 12 matches, while Inzaghi has a 64% success rate with 7 wins out of 11. If Inzaghi secures a victory, he will tie with Helenio Herrera and Árpád Weisz for second place in the all-time list of successful managers in the Milan derby, each with eight wins, trailing only Carlo Ancelotti, who has 10.
