Juventus ended the Serie A Week 7 against Calgiari with a draw on Sunday 6 October 2024 at the Juventus Stadium in Turin, *Italy. The fact is that Juventus faced a setback by allowing the first goal of their championship, resulting in a loss of two points at home. Cagliari, on the other hand, celebrated their second consecutive positive outcome following their victory in Parma, securing a vital point for the team.
The bianconeri had a strong first half, taking the lead with a penalty from Vlahovic after Luperto’s handball. They nearly extended their lead with attempts from Koopmeiners and Conceicao. However, Vlahovic missed a chance to make it 2-0 in the second half. In a dramatic turn, Douglas Luiz fouled Piccoli in the box, leading to a penalty awarded by Marinelli after a VAR check. Marin confidently converted the penalty, leveling the score for Cagliari, which remained until the end. Juventus also ended the match with ten men after Conceicao was sent off for a second yellow card due to simulation.
A deja vu. Juventus is set to play a ‘lunch-match’ on Sunday 6 October 2024 in Serie A for the first time since March 17, 2024, when they faced Genoa and ended in a 0-0 draw. Prior to that match, the Bianconeri had an impressive streak, winning six consecutive top-flight games played at 12:30, with each match featuring at least two goals.
After triumphing over Leipzig in the Champions League, even while outnumbered, Juventus is shifting their focus back to the league. Their goal is to continue their winning streak and keep up with Inter and Napoli, who both had successful outings earlier. Juventus has not allowed any goals in Serie A so far. Thiago Motta’s team is eager to keep that clean sheet against Cagliari.
Juventus opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Dušan Vlahović successfully converted a penalty, sending a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner. The penalty was awarded after Sebastiano Luperto committed a handball in the box.

The miracle for Cagliari and a cold shower for Juventus in the 88thminute. Cagliari’s Razvan Marin found the net by converting a penalty, striking the ball with his right foot into the top left corner. The penalty was given following a foul by Douglas Luiz on Roberto Piccoli in the box.

✅ Stats before the game:
Juventus has triumphed in 12 out of their last 14 Serie A encounters with Cagliari, recording 1 draw and 1 loss. During this stretch, they have netted at least two goals in each match, including exactly two goals in their last four games in order.
Juventus is on a roll with seven straight home victories against Cagliari in Serie A, achieving five clean sheets during this time. Among the teams in the 2024/25 top division, only Venezia has a longer active streak of home wins against them, with 10 consecutive home victories.
In a remarkable achievement, Juventus has completed the first six matches of a top-flight season without allowing a single goal. This means the Bianconeri have gone an impressive 540 minutes without conceding since the tournament began, setting a record in the era of three points for a win. This feat ranks as the sixth-best all-time in terms of minutes, with only three teams in history managing to finish the first seven Serie A games with seven clean sheets: Milan in 1993/94, Cagliari in 1966/67, and Bologna in 1946/47.

Cagliari found success in Parma and rose to five points in the standings: the Sardinians in 2023/24 and 2021/22 (the last two tournaments played in the top category), had collected just two points in the first six rounds of the top-flight championship, without winning a match.
Player Stats
Dusan Vlahovic has scored six goals in nine Serie A matches played against Cagliari (against no team has he scored more goals in the top league); curiously, two of the five goals from direct free kicks scored by the Serbian in the competition have come against the Sardinians, including the last of these last April.
Nicolás González had never reached the month of October in Serie A without scoring at least one goal in the league: Cagliari, however, is one of only two teams faced (along with Sassuolo) since he has been playing in the top flight against which the Argentine has scored in three different games (three goals against the rossoblù in total for him).
Since the start of last season (2023/24), among the defenders in Serie A only Federico Dimarco (13), Theo Hernández (12), Giovanni Di Lorenzo (nine) and Denzel Dumfries (nine) have actively participated in more goals than Nadir Zortea (eight, thanks to three goals and five assists).
