Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:

Atalanta, 4th position with 41 points and a positive goal difference of +18

Atalanta and Inter ended the Serie A Week 22 game with a goalless draw on Sunday 16 January 2022 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, Italy.  Inter highly motivated after winning the Supercoppa Italiana Frecciarossa defeating Juventus.  Inter reaching 50 points will risk to lose the first position if AC Milan defeat Spezia. The good news for Inter is that they have a pending game.

Simone Inzaghi is the only one of the current Serie A coaches who has twice recorded a streak of eight or more consecutive wins in the competition over the past three seasons – before his eight with Inter he had scored 11 wins in a row with Lazio between October 2019 and January 2020.

Image

Stats before the game.  Inter have remained unbeaten in their last six Serie A games against Atalanta, although in four of these meetings the match ended in a draw (2W) – during the period the Milanese team kept clean sheets three times.  Atalanta have only won 18% of Serie A games against Inter Milan under the management of Gian Piero Gasperini (2 out of 11), against any opponent they have recorded a lower success rate.   Perfect balance in Atalanta’s last eight home games against Inter in the league: two wins on each side and four draws. This could become the third occasion in which a team scores in 40 consecutive Serie A matches: Inter are in fact at 39, better than only Juventus, in December 2017 (44) and March 2014 (43). In addition, the Nerazzurri are, together with Bayern Munich, the only two teams to have scored in all the matches played this season in the five major European leagues.  Atalanta has just three home wins in this league, compared to three draws and three defeats: the points obtained in home games in the current tournament are 12, at least five less than any other team currently in the top eight positions. classification.
