Atalanta win the Serie A Week 8 game defeating Fiorentina on Sunday 2 October 2022 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, Italy. Atalanta reached 20 points, a sum they had never reached after the first eight seasonal matches in a single season in Serie A, and returned to the top of the table in the company of Napoli also with 20 points.

It is a special victory for Atalanta Coach Gian Piero Gasperini because he reached Mondonico with 299 matches on the Nerazzurri bench at the top of the all-time coaching table in the history of the Club. It’s the third 1-0 of the season and fifth clean sheet for Gasperini’s men, who are confirmed as impenetrable in defense. On the other hand, it is the third defeat in the league for Fiorentina (all away), who remain in eleventh place in the standings.

The only goal of the game was scored in the 59th minute and enough for Atalanta to claim the victory.  Ademola Lookman defeated Fiorentina goalkeeper from very close range with a right-footed shot to the center.  The assist is by Luis Muriel.

✅  Stats before the game. Fiorentina have won their last two Serie A games against Atalanta, having lost each of the previous three; the last time the Viola had more consecutive wins against the Nerazzurri in the competition was in February 2016 (eight).

Roma caused an upset and win the Serie A Week 8 game against Inter on Saturday 1 October 2022 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy.  Roma with ex-Inter Coach Mourinho suspended for this game can only smile with this important away victory.  The last time Roma defeated Inter in Serie A dates back to February 26, 2017 (1-3 at the Meazza). Paulo Dybala and Chris Smalling light up the Roma party at San Siro. After the initial disadvantage signed by Federico Di Marco, Roma managed to react. Roma temporarily in third place in the standings. Inter collapse in their second consecutive defeat.

Inter opened the score in the 30th minute. Federico Dimarco defeated AS Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Nicolò Barella.

Roma equalized for the 1-1 in the 39th minute. Argentinean forward Paulo Dybala taking care of business defeating Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic with a left-footed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Leonardo Spinazzola.  Way to go for Dybala who was rumored to transfer to Inter and instead Roma signed him!

Napoli keep the 1st position after winning the Serie A Week 8 game against Torino on Saturday 1 October 2022 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, Italy.   Torino remain with 10 points. This is the sixth consecutive victory between the Serie A and the Champions League for Napoli. A third defeat in a row, however, for Torino, after the knockouts with Inter and Sassuolo. Napoli took the lead in the 6th minute with Anguissa scoring his first Serie A goal and doubling in the 12th minute. In the 37th minute, the Neapolitans reached 3-0 with a similar action but on the opposite side, which began with Zielinski’s launch into space and ended with the conclusion of Kvaratskhelia.
