Napoli won the Serie A Week 9 game defeating Hellas Verona on Saturday 21 October 2023 at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium in Verona, Italy. With this victory, Napoli momentarily leads Juventus and Fiorentina on 17 points, two behind Inter and four behind leaders Milan. For Verona, stuck at eight and without a win since the second day of the championship, the situation becomes difficult given that the four points advantage over the third from last could be reduced once the day is completed.

After the 2-0 in the first half, Napoli rounded off the score with an escape from a counter attack by Kvaratskhelia. Verona reacted and shortened with Lazovic, then hits Meret a couple of times and is unable to fully reopen the match. In the last half hour of the match, opportunities on both sides but the result did not change again until the final whistle in Abisso. Politano, one goal and two assists, and Kvaratskhelia, two goals, are the absolute protagonists of today’s match.

In the next round, Hellas Verona will play the away game against Juventus while Napoli, after the match against Union Berlin on Tuesday evening in the Champions League, there will be the big match with AC Milan at the Diego Armando Maradona.

Napoli opened the score in the 27th minute. Matteo Politano defeated Hellas Verona goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipò with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Giacomo Raspadori.

Napoli closed the first half with another goal in the 43rd minute. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Matteo Politano.

Hellas Verona shortened the distance in the 60th minute. Darko Lazovic defeated Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret with a left-footed shot to the high center.

Napoli have won only two of their last seven away games in the league (D4, L1), after having achieved eight successes away from home in a row in Serie A, in a period in which they had conceded just one goal in total.

Napoli collapsed losing the Serie A Week 8 game on Sunday 8 October 2023 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Napoli, Italy. Fiorentina now claimed full 3 points and reached 17 points thanks to goals from Josip Brekalo, Giacomo Bonaventura and Nicolás González, in a match that also featured the woodwork of Quarta and Ikone. Fiorentina caught Juventus in third place.

The bad news is that Napoli suffered a second home defeat, aggressive but lacking clarity. Victor Osimhen’s penalty is not enough, the blue attacker wastes one-on-one with Terracciano with the result still tied.

Previously, Napoli and Fiorentina were tied on 14 points, both unbeaten in four rounds of the championship and with the objective of third place – catching Juventus – within reach of victory.

After the break for the national teams, the ninth day of the championship will see Garcia’s team visit Verona while the Italian boys are expected in the derby with Empoli.

Fiorentina with a fast start opened the score in the 7th minute. Josip Brekalo defeated Napoli goalkeeper with a left-footed shot to the center.

Napoli equalized before ending the first half in the 45+4 minute. Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen defeated Fiorentina goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano by converting a penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The penalty is conceded by Terracciano.

Fiorentina took the lead again in the 63rd minute. Giacomo Bonaventura scored with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner.

In the 77th minute, Coach Garcia decided to replace Victor Osimhen which was not seen as a good move by the fans. Giovanni Simeone took his place.

Fiorentina sealed the victory in the 93rd minute: Nicolás González scored with a right-footed shot from to the top right corner. The assist is by Fabiano Parisi.

Cagliari collapsed and lost the Serie A Week 8 game on Sunday 8 October 2023 at the Sardegna Arena in Cagliari, Italy. Roma got their second consecutive victory after beating Cagliari led by a great Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku, author of a great brace. Mission accomplished with an agonizing ending.  AC Milan won the Serie A Week 8 game on Saturday 7 October 2023 at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genoa, Italy.   Milan are now the sole leaders with 21 points taking over the 1st position.  After Inter’s draw today against Bologna, a victory would put the Rissoneri alone at the top with 21 points. Genoa remained 8 points behind.

A match where little happened for almost 90 minutes and where Milan kept the ball but never found any openings or shots on goal. Christian Pulisic’s goal unlocks the match and makes the final incandescent. Red to Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan for a foul outside the area, Olivier Giroud on goal, and Genoa’s free kick which chipped the crossbar. Immediately afterward Genoa goalkeeper Josef Martinez was also sent off, but Piccinini decided that this was enough.

After the break a Milan-Juventus that will not see either Theo Hernandez or Maignan on the pitch. Genoa will instead visit Atalanta.

Genoa proved to be a complicated opponent to face at home. Despite the blackout on the first day against Fiorentina, 1-4 at the end, they then stopped Napoli, 2-2, and defeated Roma 4-1. The last match at Ferraris ended 3-0 for the Rossoneri.
