Vezzali, Errigo take Gold at World Championships

Inter Milan

< ![CDATA[

MILAN – It was the latest in a long line of successes for Italian fencing. Italy’s women’s foil team beat Russia 45-39 in yesterday’s final at the World Fencing Championships currently being held in Kazan. Key to this triumph were Nerazzurri fans Valentina Vezzali and Arianna Errigo: together with their foil partners Elisa Di Francisca and Martina Batina they continue to fly the Italian flag abroad proudly, reaffirming the Azzurri’s supremacy in the sport.

On behalf of Inter and all Interisti we would like to congratulate our two Nerazzurri sisters on their success.

Supports Serie A Teams in International Competition

It’s time to prepare for the 2014 International Champions Cup (ICC)!   Three Italian Serie A teams are participating in this tournament: Inter Milan, AS Roma, and AC Milan.     I attended Manchester United press conference with coach Louis Van Gaal on Tuesday 22 July 2014 followed by the training at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California ahead of their game against Los Angeles Galaxy for the Chevrolet Cup.   In the ICC, Manchester United will be playing against AS Roma on Saturday 26 July at the Sports Authority Field At Mile High in Denver, Colorado and against Inter Milan on Tuesday 29 July at the Fedex Field in Landover, Maryland.

Van Gaal is new Manchester United and his objective for the moment is to have a good pre-season in the USA.  Challenge will be for Inter and AS Roma to stop the Reds.   The Press conference starting few minutes late and Van Gaal immediately apologizing saying it was the first time he is late for a press conference.   The reason… Los Angeles traffic.   When asked about his players, Van Gaal commenting, ” They are anxious to follow the instructions of my assistants. ”

On what he has observed with his new players:   “The focus I have seen in the training sessions is top-level, but we have to see if the performance is top-level.  But I am very happy with the labour of my players in the days I have been with them.”

The game against Los Angeles Galaxy it’s the start of the USA Tour and will help the team to increase their fitness level contrary to the Galaxy who are fit and in the middle of their MLS campaign.  “We have analyzed Galaxy and I expect a very organized and tactical team that are aggressive in attack and want to press.”

Among the players in the USA tour are England’s forward  Wayne Rooney, Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea, Japanese midfielder Shinji Kagawa, and Spain midfielder Juan Mata.

Accompanying Van Gaal was new signing Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera   Agüera.  “I can promise to work hard & be a good pro. But there are other good players in team. I’m sure we will help the team. Not only me.  I will miss my friends and family, but I’m ready for this step. I am ready for this challenge.”

Training included warm-up with Van Gaal splitting  the team into two groups of 11 for a possession game  between the 18-yard line and half-way line.  Players also did  a shooting exercise while others worked on tactics.

Impressive to watch the goalkeepers training too practicing different tactics to save goals.  One key player to watch is forward Wayne Rooney fully concentrated during training impressing the fans.

The International Champions Cup is back!!!  Yep.  I went to see Real Madrid training at the North Athletic Field  in UCLA on Tuesday 22 July 2014 checking our ex AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti.    Real Madrid will play against Inter Milan on Saturday 26 July at the Memorial Stadium, Berkeley and against AS Roma on Tuesday 29 July at the Cotton Bowl Stadium, Dallas, Texas.    Surely, it will be a personal Milan Derby for Ancelotti to face now city rival Inter under the lead of coach Walter Mazzarri!!!    What a duel!  The Roman gladiators landing on Monday 21 in Boston to face Real Madrid with their iconic Captain Francesco Tutti encouraging his teammates.

It’s Real Madrid first training in Los Angeles  with the 20 players making the trip from Spain.   Real Madrid trained without forward Cristiano Ronaldo, defender Sergio Ramos, and goalkeeper Iker Casillas who are still on vacation after participating in the FIFA World Cup.  Ramos and Casillas are expected to arrive this Wednesday while Cristiano Ronaldo will join the group until next Saturday.
Training including warmup, stretching, ball drills, shoot on goal.  Training separately is defender Fabio Coentrao who is recovering from injury.  Coentrao doing some laps round the pitch at a steady pace.

The crowd awaiting also for new signing Colombian forward James Rodriguez who was officially presented today at the Santiago Bernabeu Presidential Box  in Madrid by  Real Madrid President Florentino Perez.   Up to the moment, Rodriguez is not expected to join the Summer tour.

Here are the declarations of Inter defender Yuto Nagatomo on his first day of work after returning from his post-World Cup holidays.  Nagatomo interviewed by  Roberto Scarpini once morning training ended  at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti in Appiano Gentile.

Welcome back, Yuto. So you got right back to work after your holidays ended.
“I was in Japan and enjoyed a nice holiday with my family and some friends. It really felt great.”

From your tan it seems you also got some sun. Did you go to the beach?
“Yes, I went to the beach and picked up a suntan. I got back to work today. I trained hard, ran a lot and I feel good.”

You like running. In Pinzolo they were lacking someone who could pull the group along, so to speak. Someone to run faster than the others. You’re a bit behind compared to your team-mates but now you’re starting the season with a lot of hunger.
“Yes, a lot of hunger. We have to win and have a great start. This year we’re hoping to do well.”

Going back a bit, you seemed very moved when it was time to say goodbye to Alberto Zaccheroni. He was a coach that gave a lot to Japan.
“We made a lot of progress under Zaccheroni. I really have to thank him for it.”
