Como and Bologna ended the Serie A Week 4 match with a draw on Saturday 14 September 2024 at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium. It’s a special day for Fabregas’ Como, which debuts in its stadium in front of its own fans. The Sinigaglia fine-tuning work was completed in time to host the first home match of the blue-and-whites. Yet, Como’s chance for their first Serie A victory slipped away at the very end. Both teams remain on a winless streak.
It was a thrilling game at Sinigaglia, where Como dominated for long periods. The action kicked off with an own goal from Casale, breaking the stalemate right away. After Cutrone added a second goal in the second half, Santiago Castro made a late appearance that changed everything. The rossoblù number 9 first reduced the lead by taking advantage of a rebound from Odgaard’s attempt, and then he set up Iling Junior, who found the net at the far post to equalize.
On the other hand, Vincenzo Italiano’s Bologna must raise their heads, also without victories in this start of the season. The rossoblù, clearly defeated at the Maradona against Napoli, have obtained two home draws against Udinese and Empoli. Now, a third draw.
What a fantastic day it is! Como has scored their first Serie A goal at home in over two decades, since 2003! Como got off to a great start, scoring in the 5th minute with an own goal by Nicolò Casale! Cutrone received the ball near the edge of the six-yard box and attempted a cross, but Casale inadvertently redirected it past goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski.

Stats before the game:
Como have won eight of their 18 Serie A matches against Bologna (D5 L5), only against Fiorentina (nine) have Como achieved more wins against a single opponent in the top flight. The last match between Como and Bologna in Serie A dates back to 23 March 2003: a 5-1 victory for the Lombardy team at the Sinigaglia – that was one of three occasions in which Como scored five goals in the top flight, after the 5-0 against Lucchese in January 1951 and the 5-0 against Udinese in May 1952.
Como is the team against which Bologna has played the most away games without ever winning in their Serie A history: in nine away games, Como has drawn twice and won seven times. Como has obtained one point in three games this season (all away). The Lariani will return to play a home match in Serie A for the first time in 21 years and 113 days, that is, since the challenge at the Sinigaglia won against Torino 1-0 on 24 May 2003.
After having always won in the first home match of the season in Serie A in the first three championships played (between 1949/50 and 1951/52), Como have not obtained a success in their home debut in all the following 10 seasons in the top division (4D, 6P).
Since last April, no team has drawn more games than Bologna in Serie A: seven out of 12 (3W, 2P), equal with Juventus (but in 11 matches). Bologna have lost their last two away league games without scoring, and have not recorded three consecutive away defeats in Serie A since January and February 2022 – the last time they failed to score in three consecutive away games in the competition was in January 2021.
