Genoa making a comeback to draw the Serie A Week 8 game against Sassuolo on Sunday 17 October 2021 at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genova, Italy at 12:30.  Genoa needed the victory to avoid falling down in the relegation zone.  However, this draw might be considered a plus for Genoa because they were down 0-2 and managed to draw  a 2-2. Mexican defender Johan Vásquez  making his debut with Genoa scoring the equalizer goal in the 89th minute.

✅  Sassuolo have won their last three Serie A games against Genoa with an aggregate score of 9-2 – in this set also a 5-0 which remains the win with the highest goal margin for the neroverde team in the competition.  Genoa is the team against which Sassuolo has scored the most goals in Serie A (30) – Domenico Berardi has taken part in 11 of these (37%), thanks to five goals and six assists.  After the 0-1 defeat against Salernitana in the last round, Genoa could run out of goals for two consecutive Serie A matches for the first time since October 2020 (three on that occasion). Sassuolo have lost four of their last five Serie A games (1W), the same number of defeats they have remedied in all previous 19 games in the competition. Genoa have scored at least one goal in all of their last 20 league home games and only twice in their history have they scored in consecutive home matches in Serie A: 24 games in a row both in April 1933 and in January 1949.

Sassuolo opening the score in the 11th minute. It is Gianluca Scamacca to defeat Genoa goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu with a right footed shot to the top right corner.

Talking about motivation and there it is Gianluca Scamacca scoring again in the 21st minute.

Genoa shortening the distance. In the 27th minute, forward Mattia Destro defeating Sassuolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli with a headed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Mohamed Fares with a cross.

Genoa equalized for the 2-2 in the 89th minute.  It is Johan Vásquez to save Genoa one point with his headed shot to the center.  The assist is by Nicolò Rovella with a cross following a corner conceded by Rogerio.  This is Vásquez debut and a dreamed one with a goal!
