AS Roma win the Serie A Week 3 game defeating Sassuolo on Sunday 12 September 2021 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy.  Congratulations to José Mourinho celebrating his 1000 games with the clubs, considering all competitions (637 wins, 205 draws, 157 lost, and 33 trophies).  Roma is the first team with which José Mourinho wins five wins in the first five official benches at the helm of a club in his career. The hero is forward Stephan El Shaarawy starting as a substitute to score the winner goal in the 91st minute.   A best way to celebrate Mourinho’s 1,000 game with a victory and the 1st position in Serie A this week.

  • Stats before the game.  Among the teams they have faced at least 10 times in Serie A, Sassuolo are the opponent against whom Roma have lost the fewest games: only one defeat in 16 matches (8wins, 7draws).  Roma could win at least six home games in a row, in all competitions, for the first time since December 2017 (seven in that case).    Alessio Dionisi could become the second Sassuolo coach to remain undefeated in his first three matches at the helm of the neroverdi in Serie A, after Roberto De Zerbi in 2018. Sassuolo have won their last five Serie A away games (already a record for the club in the tournament): no team from Emilia-Romagna has ever recorded six straight away wins in the top flight.

AS Roma opening the score in the 37th minute. It is Bryan Cristante to defeat Sassuolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli with a left footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Sassuolo equalizing for the 1-1 in the 57th minute. It is Filip Djuricic to defeat AS Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio from very close range with a right footed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Domenico Berardi.

Roma taking the lead for the 2-1 in the 91st minute with forward Stephan El Shaarawy delivering a right footed shot. The joy of the fans, teammates, and Coach Mourinho running to celebrate this winner goal.
