Italian Soccer Serie A
The Assembly of the Serie A League met on Friday 29 May 2020 in the presence of all 20 associated clubs in video conference. Simply put, the outcome is great news to Italian football fans. The Serie A League gives the green light to resume the Serie A TIM on June 20 as communicated by Italy Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora and unanimously voted on the dispute of the 4 recoveries of the sixth day of return (Atalanta vs Sassuolo, Hellas Verona vs Cagliari, Inter vs Sampdoria and Torino vs Parma) on the weekend of 20/21 June and the planning of the eighth return day starting from Monday 22 June.
The Serie A stopped since March 9 (Serie A Week 26) when Italy went into lockdown following the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, reportedly, having at least 231,700 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and over 33,000 deaths.
Reportedly, the 2019-2020 football activities, will resume with the Coppa Italia Semifinals (Italian Cup) on June 13 and the final scheduled for June 17.
Spadafora reached the decision on Thursday 28 during a video conference with Italian football authorities. According to the Associated Press, Spadafora declared that “The meeting was very useful. Now Italy is starting again and it is right that soccer starts again too. If the curve changes and the league has to be stopped again, the Italian soccer federation has assured me that there exists a plan B — playoffs — and also a plan C — leaving the standings as they are.”
Here are the Serie A Standing 5 top positions with Juventus leading in the first position with 63 points followed by Lazio in the second position with 62 points. The third position is for Inter with 54 points being -9 points below the leader. Up to Serie A Week 26, it seems a two-way race for the Scudetto.
