Result Inter vs Club Brugge, Tuesday, 13 October 2026, UEFA Champions League Matchday 2

🏆👉    It was a tough day for Inter as they suffered a defeat in the UEFA Champions League Matchday 2 on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy. Bruges claimed victory with a 4-3 scoreline, marking the second consecutive loss in this League Phase for Chivu's squad. Inter remains pointless in the Champions League. At this point, they desperately need a turnaround in their upcoming matches—otherwise, their Champions League dream is over.

Inter Milan faces a critical situation heading into Matchday 3 against FC Shakhtar Donetsk. With two losses already on their record (a 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid and this 4-3 loss to Brugge), Inter sits at zero points. Any further dropped points would leave them firmly planted at the bottom of the league phase standings and put their qualification for the knockout rounds in serious jeopardy. From a defensive standpoint, Inter's biggest tactical concern is their susceptibility to quick counter-attacks and their struggle to handle rapid transitions.

The standout performer of the evening was Nicolò Tresoldi. The striker, sought after by both Italy and Germany, netted a hat-trick and delivered a historic night for his supporters while creating a nightmare scenario for Inter. The Bruges forward opened the scoring at the half-hour mark with a perfectly executed penalty.

Lautaro Martínez equalized before the end of the first half, restoring hope to his teammates. Indeed, the Nerazzurri came out strong in the second half, but just when things were looking promising, Tresoldi struck again, taking advantage of a reckless mistake from Martínez.

At the 75-minute mark, the Italian-German striker completed his hat-trick by scoring on a rebound. Lautaro stepped up once more to keep Inter in the contest, also capitalizing on a rebound. Seven minutes later, substitute Vermant found the back of the net to make it 4-2 for Bruges. Despite everything, credit must be given to Inter's determination as they pulled one back in the 93rd minute with an impressive solo effort from Ange-Yoan Bonny. Unfortunately, the final score remained unchanged, and darkness fell once again on the Nerazzurri.

How does Inter arrive for their Champions League Matchday 2?

Inter, boasting an impressive unbeaten run in Serie A with 5 victories and 1 draw, recently dominated Parma with a convincing 3-0 home victory. However, they suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Real Madrid in their Champions League opener (Matchday 1). Coach Cristian Chivu will rely on their star trio of Lautaro Martínez, Nicolò Barella, and Alessandro Bastoni, who are all set to feature in the starting lineup.
