Inter have won the last six derbies against Milan in all competitions, with an overall score of 14-2, the Nerazzurri's all-time record for consecutive victories against the Rossoneri. Overall, no Milanese team has ever achieved seven consecutive victories in the history of the Derby della Madonnina in all competitions – six in a row is also the record for Milan (twice, between 1911 and 1913 and between 1946 and 1948).
The first leg of the Milan Derby is being played in one of the first five matchdays of the championship for the fifth time in the last six seasons (since 2019/20), as many times as in the previous 46 editions of Serie A played by both teams. Furthermore, Milan have remained unbeaten in all of their last seven derbies played on matchday 5 in the top flight (W5 D2), the last of which was in 2022/23 (a 3-2 win for the Rossoneri in September 2022).
Inter have won nine of their last 14 derbies against Milan in Serie A (D2 L3): in the period (since 2017/18), only against Udinese and Hellas Verona (10 against both) have the Nerazzurri achieved more successes, and only against Genoa (31) and Sampdoria (30) have they scored more goals than against the Rossoneri (29) in the top flight.
Milan have won a maximum of five points from their first four Serie A games for the first time since 2018/19 (1W, 2D, 1L in that case too) and the last time they failed to go over the five-point threshold after their first five games of a single season dates back to 2013/14 (1W, 2D, 2L in that case, with Massimiliano Allegri on the bench).
Inter have drawn four of their last six Serie A games (2W): as many draws as they had collected in their previous 28 games in the tournament (23W, 4D, 1L).
Inter and Milan are two of the three best teams in this Serie A in terms of: goals scored (nine both, equal to Napoli), ball possession (64.5% Bologna, 60.5% Nerazzurri, 59.2% Rossoneri), passing accuracy (90.2% Juventus, 90.1% Fonseca's team and 89.3% Inzaghi's team) and sequences of action of at least 10 passes ending with a shot or a touch inside the opponent's area (21 Milan, 17 Juventus and 13 Inter).
Milan is the team that has had the highest number of different players score in this Serie A: eight, out of nine total goals – in second place Napoli (six) and in third place Inter and Juventus (five both).
Players Stats
Marcus Thuram has scored a goal in both games played against Milan in Serie A: the only two players capable of finding the net in each of their first three Derby della Madonninas played with the Inter shirt in the league in the three points for a win era were Ronaldo (between 1997 and 1998) and Romelu Lukaku (between 2019 and 2020).
Only against Hellas Verona and Roma (six against both) has Rafael Leão been involved in more goals than he did against Inter in Serie A: five (3G+2A). Furthermore, the only match in which the Portuguese striker was involved in at least three goals in the top 10 European leagues was a derby against the Nerazzurri played on matchday five: two goals and a winning pass on 3 September 2022 (the last Rossoneri success in a derby in all competitions).
