France now moves on to the semifinals, where they will compete against the winner of the match between Spain and Belgium.

What an exhilarating match it was! This quarterfinal showdown was a much-anticipated rematch of their semifinal encounter in the 2022 World Cup.  France had an opportunity to take the lead in the 28th minute. However, in an unbelievable turn of events, Kylian Mbappé squandered a golden chance! Mbappé poorly executed a penalty, and the Moroccan goalkeeper Bounou guessed the angle and saved it!

Later, the redemption moment in the 60th minute.  Mbappé opened the score for France.  This was his eighth goal in the 2026 World Cup, tying him with Argentina's Lionel Messi for the top spot in the tournament. Mbappé was substituted in the 77th minute as a safety measure after sustaining a minor injury,

In the 66th minute, Dembelé sealed the match with a goal.  Morocco was feeling the pressure and is unable to react.

France showcased their dominance with strategic adjustments, opting for Desire Doué in place of Bradley Barcola. Meanwhile, Morocco, missing their key forward Ismael Saibari due to a hamstring injury, relied on former AC Milan player Brahim Diaz as their sole striker but struggled to penetrate the French defense.

The match includes 5 players from Serie A. Four of them are from France: AC Milan's goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who kept a clean sheet. AS Roma's midfielder Manu Kone played until the 71st minute before being substituted by Warren Zaïre-Emery. AC Milan's midfielder Adrien Rabiot participated for the full duration of the match. Inter's forward Marcus Thuram was listed as a substitute. For Morocco, there is just 1 Serie A player: AS Roma's midfielder Neil El Aynaoui, who also played the entire match.

What an exhilarating match! Among the celebrities present were Shakira and Antoine Griezmann, who were spotted in the stands enjoying the game. Griezmann, having retired from the French national team in 2024, was there to cheer on his former teammates.
Before the match: France is currently on an impressive streak, having won all five of their matches in regulation, driven by a strong performance from Kylian Mbappé. Meanwhile, Morocco boasts an astonishing 34-match unbeaten streak across all competitions.
