England clinched third place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup by triumphing over France 6-4 in the playoff match on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Miami. Bukayo Saka was the star of the show, netting a hat trick. Declan Rice, Ezri Konsa, and Jude Bellingham each contributed a goal to secure the win.

What a thrilling match it was! This victory marks England's first third-place finish after previous playoff defeats in 1990 and 2018. The 10 goals scored set a new record for third-place playoffs, surpassing France's 6-3 win against West Germany in 1958.

Kylian Mbappé scored two goals for France, bringing his total World Cup goals to 22, which puts him ahead of Argentina's Lionel Messi.

Ousmane Dembele gave France a glimmer of hope in the 96th minute, but substitute Jude Bellingham extinguished it in the 98th minute with his seventh goal of the tournament, the highest by any England player in a single World Cup.
