Result England vs Argentina, Wednesday, 15 July 2026, World Cup Semifinals

Argentina triumphed over England on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, with a score of 2-1 in the FIFA World Cup Semi-final held at Atlanta Stadium.  Forty years after one of the most iconic matches in World Cup history, featuring  Diego Armando Maradona's famous 'Hand of God' in 1986, the Argentinians pull off an incredible comeback.    England initially took the lead with a goal from Anthony Gordon; Argentina staged a thrilling comeback, scoring late goals from Enzo Fernández in the 85th minute and Inter forward Lautaro Martínez in the 92nd minute to secure their win.  This adds another thrilling chapter to a long-standing sports and political rivalry. The English are left disappointed as the final chapter of this World Cup unfolds: the final on July 19 will be Spain vs. Argentina.
