Result: Switzerland vs Canada, Wednesday, 24 June 2026, World Cup Group

Switzerland triumphed over co-hosts Canada with a  2-1 victory in their final Group B match of the FIFA World Cup on June 24, 2026 at BC Place in Vancouver. Rubén Vargas and Johan Manzambi were the goal scorers for the Swiss team, while Promise David scored a late goal for Canada. This win enabled Switzerland to secure the top position in Group B with a total of seven points, allowing them to stay in Vancouver for their Round of 32 knockout match. Meanwhile, Canada, finishing second with four points, lost their home-field advantage and will head to Los Angeles for their next knockout stage match in the Round of 32.

Switzerland secured the first position in the group, with Canada finishing in second place.

Canada will be without their creative midfielder Ismaël Koné from Sassuolo, who unfortunately broke his leg in the last match. On the other hand, Switzerland comes into the game with a mostly fit squad, with only Miro Muheim listed as a doubt.  Despite his injury, Koné made an appearance in a wheelchair to support his teammates.



 

Canada's offensive lineup includes the sharp Juventus striker Jonathan David and the dynamic Alphonso Davies, whereas Switzerland leans on a seasoned core and a solid defensive setup.

Head-to-Head: The two nations have faced each other just once before, with Canada winning 3-1 in a friendly back in May 2002.

⚽️ In the 57th minute, Johan Manzambi finds the net. Once again, Yakin's team attacks with depth, and the defense falters with Cornelius and Fougerolles looking lost. Embolo, launched from the back, sets up Manzambi, who unleashes a powerful right-footed shot, and Crépeau lets the ball slip under his arms.
