Result Portugal - Uzbekistan, Tuesday, 23 June 2026, World Cup Group K Portugal dominated Uzbekistan with a 5-0 victory in their World Cup Group K match on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, held at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The game was particularly memorable for Cristiano Ronaldo, who netted two goals. By doing so, Cristiano made history as the first player to score in six different World Cups: 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022, and 2026. Additionally, "Mr. Record" Cristiano surpassed Eusébio to become Portugal’s all-time leading scorer in the tournament, with a total of 10 goals. It was truly an unforgettable match. The goals came from: 6', 39' Cristiano Ronaldo, 17' Nuno Mendes, 60' Abduvohid Nematov (own goal), and 87' Rafael Leão. It was fantastic to see two Serie A players representing Portugal: AC Milan's forward Rafael Leão and Juventus' forward Francisco Conceição. Conceição entered the game as a substitute in the 45th minute, taking the place of Pedro Neto. Leão came on in the 83rd minute, replacing Vitinha. Just four minutes later, he scored a goal in the 87th minute to secure the victory. Now that's what you call a game-changing substitution! Looking ahead, Portugal's next match will be against Colombia on Saturday, June 27, at Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. Uzbekistan will also face DR Congo on Saturday.

Currently, Portugal holds the 5th position in the FIFA Men's World Rankings, while Uzbekistan is placed at 50th.

Portugal kicked off their campaign with a frustrating 1-1 draw against DR Congo. Manager Roberto Martínez's team faced some backlash for their lackluster offensive performance, but they are still considered strong contenders to earn points and move on to the knockout stages. Uzbekistan, under the guidance of Fabio Cannavaro, is participating in their inaugural World Cup but began with a 3-1 loss to the group favorites, Colombia.

⚽️ In the 6th minute, CR7 opened the scoring with a powerful first-time shot that smashed into the net. João Cancelo sent a cross into the area, enabling Cristiano Ronaldo to fire a right-footed shot beyond the goalkeeper, giving Portugal an early advantage. Cristiano has now made history as the first male player to score in six different World Cup tournaments! Incredible and iconic! A celebration well earned.

⚽️ In the 17th minute, Portugal extends their lead with a goal from Nuno Mendes! It was a clever play, as it seemed Cristiano Ronaldo was about to take the shot, prompting Uzbekistan to focus on the left side of the goal. Then, out of nowhere, Nuno Mendes steps in with his left foot and curves his shot perfectly into the bottom-right corner!

⚽️ In the 39th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo scored a double, thanks to a brilliant pass from Bruno Fernandes who found his captain in an ideal position. Ronaldo then unleashed a right-footed shot just inside the near post. It's a true Cristiano Ronaldo celebration, thrilling his fans with his famous "SIIIIIIII".

⚽️ In the 60th minute, a brilliant corner kick by Bruno Fernandes sends the ball low into the most crowded area of the box. A flurry in front of the goal leads to an own goal by goalkeeper Nematov, who lets the ball slip through his fingers, making it a four-goal lead for Portugal!  

🇵🇹 Portugal 5 - 0 Uzbekistan 🇺🇿

⚽️ In the 87th minute, Portugal scored their fifth goal, with Milan's forward Rafael Leão taking the credit. He skillfully capitalized on the completely open space left by Uzbekistan. His right-footed shot on the run found the bottom corner, sparking a huge celebration among the Portuguese fans.
